I have a 99TL want to get a newer TL but...

I have a 99TL it's been a great car to me but I want to get a 00 or 01 car. I have to pay a differance between 2-5 grand. My car has 91K on it already. but If I switch I will get another around 60K is it worht it. No tranny issue as of yet but I have no warranty on my car either? So should I upgrade and have the factory warranty that the 00-up get or stick with what I got? Is the navigation on the 00 or 01 worth it? Do you people use it? Any ups or downs about this

Thanks

I'm not as up on the 99-2001 TL as I am on the 2002+ TL, however, isn't the TL the same between 1999 and 2001 model years?

If that's the case, then it doesn't make much sense at all to upgrade unless you're going to go with the new style (2002-2003) or just wait for the 2004. Cars are a losing investment. If you're thinking of upgrading to basically the same car you're better off keeping yours and running it into the ground over the next 80k-90k miles you should get out of it.

The only difference between the 99 and the 00-01 TL is:

99 TL - 4 speed, hd navi

00-01 TL - 5 speed, side airbags, dvd navi

Bodystyle is the same so I don't see the logic in switching it.

BTW, even the 99 TLs are covered under the extended warranty ( 7yr/100K miles) now too.

yeah but it wouldent be a couple grand more for a TL-S... even a 2002 non navi with 40K is still gunna be 25K from the dealer, as opposed to $18K for '00 TL navi...

I would say if you want to upgrade, go with different body style such as 2002-2003 models or may be 2004.

My $0.02.

Cheers !!!

I just traded my 99 for a new 03 TL-S, and I made it out of the dealer with no cash paid, and my montly payment went down about $15. Low interest rates and incentives to clear out the 03 models made a huge difference. Of course I only had 57k miles on my 99, so it was probably worth a bit more than yours, but I also didnt negotiate hard at all, I'm sure there was room left if I'd wanted to press.

Sounds like you got a great deal. Congrats.

How much did you owe on the 99? what do you owe now?

Was is like a key for key exchange?

How did it exactly work out?

thanks

control the conversation, dont let them control you. If you dont like your deal walk out, they will call you back. Also go to competing dealers like lexus and price out used is's and other cars in a similar price range. Lie Lie Lie to get what you want.

Well I was not successful at all, as noted earlier I just turned 50k and I went to the dealer they only offered me 13k for my ride and keep in mind my baby is in perfect conditions, so much so that the sales person asked me was the car just detailed (no it wasnt) i just take care of my baby. I tried for a '03 TLS and they wanted about 5 grand (2G's to pay off the bank and three for theTLS) I might of done it but I didnt want to dish out that kind of cash. Besides 5G's can get me rims, suspension ETC... Maybe if i had tried for the TLP I might of had the car, oh well my baby hasn't given me any problems as of yet so I can't complain. I wasn't lucky like ThePhoniexForce.
