I think my ball joint is going bad too. Last winter when I turn my steering wheel, while the car is parked, I can hear an annoying sqeaking sound coming from the front wheel of the car. Now since it's summer, the squeaking sound went away, but i can hear the small knocking sound. How do you know which ball joint side is bad? And how do you know if it's the upper control arm or lower control arm or the ball joint?

I just replaced the driver side upper ball joint - I greased the hell out of it, I hope that's safe to do. However, I still have the same symptoms and I still hear it on the driver's side. Maybe I should replace the lower ball joint on the driver's side?
Also, does anyone know the proper procedure for greasing a balljoint? I removed the rubber from the new ball joint, then filled the inside of it with a bunch of chassis grease then put it back up and wrapped the tie-ring thing to keep it in place and prevent the ball-joint from sliding out.
Thanks for any help - apologies for the threadjack

I have the same issue but it's on the passenger side. When the front end lifts up while taking off, I hear the click/pop sound. The sound started up after I did some maintenance to that side: upper and lower joints were changed out (lower was changed twice), CV axle, End Link, Sway bar bushings. I'm wondering if the problem is from changing the lower ball joint twice. Since it is pressed it, it can only be replaced so many times?
I took it to firestone and the guy there told me it was my motor mounts. The front and side mounts are nearly new, so I don't think that is the issue.
