I drove my TL to Las Vegas

I just wanted to write a post about driving my car to Las Vegas. I live in Kansas City Missouri and I went on vacation to Las Vegas. This is a 1400 mile trip one way and I am proud to say that my 2002 TL made the trip there and back without any problems. This is the most reliable car I have owned. It is awesome!!!!

Give us more info about the trip Rocket. Such as how the car felt during the 1400 miles, fuel economy, etc. And also, tell us anything interesting that happened in Vegas. I'm planning to go to Vegas in a month and was wondering what not to miss while I'm there. Thanks.

a 2002 should be good for 2 and 1/2 trips like that and barely need an oil change... Let me know how the trip goes when you are over 200K miles...

My TL has 55,000 miles on it and it runs great. My wife and I drove the car straight to Vegas and back only stopping for gas, lunch, and dinner. It took us close to 20 hours to get to Vegas and about the same amount of time getting back to KC.

The best mileage that I got was 33 miles per gallon. The worst was 28 mpg when we drove through the Rockies. Everything seemed to go well with the car, nothing out of the ordinary happened.

I had my tires rotated, oil changed, and air filter replaced. Now it just needs to be cleaned because the front bumper looks like a bug graveyard.

I forget to answer one of your questions. Las Vegas is amazing. There is so much to see and do there. I didn't gamble too much. I did win $200 off of a slot machine and I was too busy to do any more gambling.

I saw David Copperfiled at the MGM Grand, he was unbelievable. He put on a great show and was a lot more than I expected. The show lasted about 2 hours and we had 3rd row seats.

The things I liked the most were; The Sirens of TI at Treasure Island. Get there about 30 minutes before show time. There won't be any place to stand. The Stratosphere was freakin awesome too. Bellagio's fountain show is cool too.

The worst things that I would not see again are; King Tut's tomb at Luxor and the Volcano at the Mirage. Everyone made a huge deal about the volcano and it lasted about 3 minutes.

Hey guys i went on a 860 mile trip to New Mexico for a family reunion at the begining of this month. This is the farthest i've ever taken my TL. I did an oil change before i took off and reset everything and by the time i got back my maintence light is flashing again. I have to say though i did average about 400 miles to the tank and i was still on 1/4 of a tank but didn't want to chance it. But on the way home we had to stop in flagstaff, fueled up and drove all they way into havasu where i put 485 to the tank and that was with the a/c on the way, kids playing ps2, and watching movies, and of course listening to the radio. I'am taking off to vegas the last week of october with the boys to do a little partying. No wife this time so you guys know how that's going to go.

I honestly wanted to post my trip to Washington State from Washington DC on that thread they had a while back but it was lost in translation during the search

Anywho: 03 TLP, 30k when I left, 3000 miles later (37 hours of driving), 33k, no problems...and I hit way more than 120 going across country (my needles get stuck because of the gauges!) I have a ticket clocked at 122.

You bastard...I've always wanted to take my TL for a cross country drive. I will one day from NJ to CA.

The farthest I went was from NJ to FL @ 1100 miles one way.

I just want to say that our TLs are great cruising machine!
