Question HR Springs

I'm really new at this "modding" thing so I was hoping for some help . I did a search, but it wasn't enough. I apologize ahead of time if this was already covered and I missed it.

I'm usually driving with 3-4 people (incl. myself) in the car or I'm bringing my g/f's stuff back and forth from school. After reading all the other posts, I'm a little concerned that getting the HR Sport Springs will make me too low to the point where the wheels will be "rubbing" or I'll have other problems (ruined shocks, front scrape, etc.). I have stock everything else (wheels, no body kit).

I love the way the Sport Springs look (low), but should I be getting the OE Springs instead or am I just being paranoid ?

Any help would be great. Thanks a bunch.

Rich

If you're that worried I'd say spend the extra $$ and buy the Comptech's. At least with those you'll get the advertised drops b/c those are made for our car whereas the H&R Springs are made for the Accord, which is a lighter car.....

You shouldn't have a problem scraping. My boy has the HR Sport on his TL and he has a 200 lbs of stereo in his trunk and 4 ppl including him in the car and it didn't scrape at all. I have the HR sport too, but not installed yet because I am gonna wait until this winter is over. I see you are in NJ too, but I definitely going to the HR Sport installed this March.

The Comptech Springs are made by H&R or Eibach. I believe they are made by H&R. Comptech doesn't make there own, they just have there name on them instead so they can charge you more and also your warranty is still valid if installed by a authorized dealer.

I've been reading a little bit each way. Some say H&R is better, some say Comptech. I'm going to wait until the spring once the meets start up again, then ride in some cars to find out which I like better.....

based on what you described ,I'd say comptech...you'll be glad that you had them when loaded...if anything i would think H&R sports would be a higher spring rate than comptech...now o.e.'s thats probablly similar...

Well....for the most part....3-4 people in the car haven't been much of a problem for me yet...but when I added the 5th person....my underside scraped on speedbumps in vegas....and i'm riding on H&R sports.
I have also scraped (once) my front lip (no kit) w/ 3 people in the car....coming out of a pretty steep driveway...

My 18" wheels have not rubbed yet on anything...

but I still do love the springs and the better handling, less nose dive when braking, and lower profile were all worth it.

I'd be a bit weary if you were going to be carrying 4-5 people and a trunk full of luggage around all the time...
When I carried 5 people in my car...I had about 395 lb in the front seats and about 445 lb. in the back seats...and a trunk w/ luggage for each person...enough for a weekend....
and I noticed my back was sagging quite a bit...w/ my headlights pointed higher than normal.....

hope this helps....

i guess any car would sag a bit with that much weight .

thanks for the info though. it's almost a given to me that i'll scrape speedbumps and steep driveways...i just want to make sure i don't mess up anything else. thanks again!

Just for the record -

Comptech springs are manufactured by Betts Spring Co., not H&R or Eibach.

Wink HnRs OEs Versus Sports

I recently installed the Hn Rs OEs and the drop was hardly noticeable! I'm changing them out for the 1.75 and 1.50 drop (sports). I have friends that sell Acuras and all they install is the Hn R sports and claiming to have maybe 20%less ride and no camber problems. I'm keeping my stock wheels. Good luck! 2002 TL Type S
