How would the typ S fare against the 04tl

After reading a little on the 270hp 04 TL, just curious what you guys think on how we would stand up against her? Once i get my headers & unichip would i then be able to take her?

Ive driven a the 04TL a few times and i rode in it a few times. Based on that, i think that my former 03 TL-S is faster than the 04TL. I mean its only 10 more horse and the 04TL is heavier. When i say the a TLS is faster, i mean its faster than an auto 04TL not a 6MT one. A TL-S with mods can beat an 04TL with no problem.

No i dont think a TL-S can win against me. Maybe a highly modded one though. Me and my brother always used to race and he would always beat my Tl-S by so much in his 6MT CL-S. Now that i have my G, i beat him by alot

when you say highly modded are you including a supercharger? or would headers , intake & a unichip be sufficient. Dont know any thing about a g35, what kind of ponies are we talkin?

The '04 TL Auto... a '02-03 TL-S should be able to at least keep up with if not beat it all together. The '04 TL's Drive by Wire system and the extra weight make the auto a little bit sluggish compared to the '02-03 TL-S.

A '04 TL 6MT should be able to beat a stock '02-03 TL-S with no problem. A modded '02-03 TL-S with bolt-ons like H/I/E should be able to keep up with a '04 TL 6MT although it would be a close race.

A '02-03 TL-S doesn't stand a chance against a G35 6MT Coupe. The G35 Coupe is 280hp and 270 ft/lbs not to mention its RWD... Its no slouch for sure. You'd probably need the supercharger and H/I/E to be able to beat a G35 Coupe ... Or some NO2

Well, I did some more poking around ... I dunno if this is what the G35 Coupe runs normally, but I grabbed a 1/4 mile time from www.car-stats.com and its running a 0-60 time of 5.5mph and a 1/4 time of 14.2 @ 100mph...

Now for a TL-S to beat that, you probably wouldn't need the supercharger (although it wouldn't hurt to have it!). I know of Auto CL-S's running 14.2 with just H/I/E, so the TL-S should be able to produce similar numbers. With H/I/E/Pulleys/Unichip you should probably put up a good fight with a G35 Coupe. Thats just my guess of course..

The question should be stock TL-S vs. stock 04 TL, not modified TL-S vs. stock 04 TL. If you have to modify to win, then that 04 TL could modify and still be ahead also.

Yeah but right now there's hardly any mods for the '04 TL (I think just an intake in terms of performance mods) ... And anyways if you're racing in the 1/4 or at a red light with a stock '04 TL versus your modified '03 TL-S then thats when its important to know ... None of this "well you could modify" ... if you're sitting at the light stock then it don't matter

I mean if we're using your approach there's no point in modifying because someone else could always modify their car to make it faster than yours.

Maybe thats what I should say if I lose a race ... "Well, you beat me, but thats only because you spent more money modifying your car. I could modify my car more and be ahead."

what about against an AT (G35-C)? Or an AT 350Z? It's NOT really a fair comparison AT (TL-S) vs. a MT, wouldn't you think?

Well yeah its not fair ... but again I'm not talking about fair, I'm talking about what you might encounter on the road ...

I'm not sure what an Auto G35C runs in the 1/4 mile. I'd imagine it'd be somewhere close to a 14.5-14.6 or so? Just a guess based off of the 14.2 number that the G35C 6MT runs ... That would put a TL-S with headers+intake right in the same territory with a G35C Auto. Assuming my numbers are right.

honestly, a g35 auto isnt that much slower than a 6mt g35. The gap between the two isnt as big as say..a 04tl auto to an 04TL 6mt.
