How much is left when gas light is on?
Did a search, but title says it all. So when the gas light turns on, it's at the last little hash mark on the meter. I'm assuming 1 gallon, or maybe 20 miles. Couldn't find it in the book..second question, is it true that it's REALLY bad for your gas light to come on? My roomie said so because that's where all the 'junk' from your tank is and what not. Any measure to what he says?

Every car is different. Mine comes on and i have roughly 3 gallons left. The best way to know is when it comes on Fill it up all the way. The tank only holds 17.1 gallons total. That will give you how much you have left. And yes you can run it all the way down. Were do you think the pump is, its at the bottom of the tank. Its fine to run it downb that far. Been doing it for 198,500 miles now

My light consistently comes on at 13.7 gallons, and the capacity is 17.x gallons.
Fuel pumps use fuel to cool down. I personally don't go below 13.7 gallons for that reason. I just don't see the point of waiting 'til the last moment to fill up. You're still gonna use the same amount of fuel regardless.
Fuel tanks could have some sediments inside over a long period of time, but for the most part, they don't have the extensive amount of "junk" build-up like most people believe. Besides, any "junk" would be filtered by the fuel filter.

I habitually wait to get down to the bottom because I drive so much that it gets ridiculous to stop every other day to fill up. I fill all the way up every 3 to 4 days as it is.

You remind me of the pack and liter a day smoker and drinker who lives to 100 who outlives the fitness freak who died at 60.
