Question How much for an '00 TL? or a used TL in general?

Hey all, looking at getting a TL for the SO as a commuter car.

I found a '00 TL w/ Nav. The asking price is $11k for it. However, it has 150k miles on it! And yes, the transmission has been swapped out by the dealer. What are your thoughts on this? Is he asking for too much money? How much longer do you think the car will run for? (what's the highest milage TL out there?)

What are people paying for their used TLs right now? Please let me know the milage, price, and where you're located it.

I live in california, and I think TLs cost more here or something!

Thanks!

Well, for normaly driver 2K TL that would be cheap, but seeing that it has more than TWICE the expected mileage it should have for its age it makes sense. I'd be afraid of the second tranny going soon with that mileage.

I just joined the Acura ownership family last week with a 2000 TL with only 21,400 miles. Only mod is wood grain kit. It matches the original perfectly and looks great. They were asking $19,995 and took $18,000.

I am always wary of used car deals so buying from a dealer through the "Acura Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles" program made me feel better about the deal. I got the checklist that they used to go over the car and found out what they replaced/ fixed. (In my case they replaced the rear brakes, the cabin air filter and re-painted the front and rear bumpers)

The cars in-service date was 11/99 so the original warranty was due to expire next month, but with the certified program you get an additional year and/or 12,000 miles.

I ended up buying an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty for 7-years/ 100,000 miles for just under a grand. (I figure it wouldn't take much to reach $1,000 if I had any problems with the engine.)

I did searches on edmunds.com, NADA, Kelley Blue Book, e-bay, etc. to find out what people were asking/paying. All the used car guides ranged anywhere from around $18k up to $24k. I never saw any other 2000's with such low miles. Several dealers on e-bay were around $18k.

P.S. As a side story, when I bought the car I followed my wife home (~ 20 miles) with her driving it and when we pulled into the driveway she happened to park just right and I noticed a 3" wide cut in the left rear tire that went all the way to the cords. I called my salesman immediately and expected to hear something to the effect that "it wasn't like that when you left here," but they replaced the tire the next morning.

I highly recommend the "certified used car" program. At least that way you have a lesser chance of having something major show up a month after you buy it and be on your own to fix it. If you buy from an individual or another car type dealer you won't get any kind of warranty at all.

Ii thought all TLs had the "freebie" 100k extended warranty cause of the tranny problem? Or does that only cover the tranny?

TIA!

Actually I was told by the dealer that the tranny is covered untill 100000 miles... unconditional...they extended it...

12000 for a 2000 TL with 74K ? yeah..that is good.. whether I would recommend getting it ? Altough now that I found out that the tranny is covered for 100k ? I would ask the dealer exactly..cause this is here in NY and maybe different elsewhere
