How many of you are from Taiwan?

Born in Taiwan. Lived in Tien Mu, a suburb of Taipei, until I was 7. Then moved to the States. Now I'm 33.
Taipei American School? I haven't heard that name for a long time. My sister was in that system at the elementary level, I think.

No kidding! I think my aunt (a lot of family still lives in Taiwan) told me TAS was not where it used to be at one time. Just dawned on me...I attended the Dominican Catholic School...or something like that. It was located next to a military base and I remember we would watch them train in the fields from behind the walls.
I visited Tien Mu back in '96 and I do not recognize the place at all anymore. Where our house use to be there is now an apartment complex maybe 5 to 10 stories high. It was 19 years since I lived there and a lot has changed.
It used to be a typical suburb with single family homes, wetlands that may have been a rice paddy. My neighbors used to be someone who worked for the German Embassy and I was best friends with their son...Taro I think. And a US marine used to live down the road from us and we would know it was around 5:30 pm everyday cause he would let out a loud sound so that his family would know he has come home from work.
Ah...good times!

not sure of the location of Dominican when you were attending, but I THINK that is the location of the "new" TAS. I think that spot of land went from Dominican to TYPA ( a youth association, soccer, basketball, etc ) to TAS, but I'm not sure about that.
i havent been back since about 91. i really want to go back for a visit. and i want to take the train from taipei to Fulung/TaHsi where i used to go surfing back in the day. or maybe a trip all the way down to Kenting. good times indeed...
