Maybe I am reading this wrong but if you are in "manual mode"/SS, you have to shift it to 5th, that's the whole point. Kind of like if you are in 2nd going 50 in SS, the car won't shift to 3rd unless you do it even if you hit redline.

1. At startup, mine goes to 1200 RPM, and after 2 mins goes below 1000 RPM.

2 At 20KM/H-30KM/H...stays very low 1000's.

3. at 120 KM/H my RPM is at 2500 RPM's.

So far no hard shifting or anything. Still Rock Soild.

Also the RPM is high.

For example
At Parking RPM is 1000-1200
At 20 MPH my RPM indicator shows 2000-2500 RPM
At 40-60 MPH my RPM indicator shows 3500-4000 RPM and stays their til I remove the foot from gas pedal and then car shift to next gear.

My question is :-

1) Are these RPM Normal?
2) What is normal RPM at above spped?
3) Also, does any one notice the same problem?

I went back to dealer and as per him it is normal. He told me that Acura made some changes in their computer and transmission and it is normal.

Man! I can't believe all this is STILL going on! I traded my TL-S April, 2003 at 47k because it seemed it was on it's way to a 4th tranny. It turns out I was right. The 70 year old woman who bought it from the dealer brought it back in several months later with a failed tranny.

Mine first went out in June 2001 with 8000 miles on it. At that time, Acura was baffled as it seemed I was the first in the country to experience the failure (I should get a prize!). New tranny came in 1 day and another day to install. Tranny went again in Nov 2001 at about 26000 miles. At that time, the trannies were on back order for over a month.

Since the recall, does it seem Acura has FINALLY figured out the problem? Are the trannies continuing to fail?

The recall has NOTHING to do with the transmission failures that we have had. And, yes, the transmissions are continuing to fail.

99 Trannyitis

Hello All.
I too have joined the new transmission club. What I thought was a benign noise above 45 turned out to be diff noise. THANK GOD they extended the warranty on 99's (87,000 mi) as well. You know that it is a bad sign when within 2 minutes on a drive with a tech they ask if you have the extended warranty.
Cheers,
Jstadt

Yeah, uh huh, right. Keep telling yourself that. The transmission recall has nothing to do with most of the transmission failures but it is causing problems right after the oiljet install. Nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise.

I have already seen too many TLs have immediate tranny failures (< 1 month later) after this oil jet junk.

It IS quite odd that I had no tranny issues until a couple months AFTER the oil jet install, and that resulted in a transmission replacement, when I'd had no issues (except the slow shift from reverse to drive, which is common) before the oil jet.

My tranny just went after 72K miles on the original tranny...It started to shift really hard from 2nd to 3rd and a little jerk from 3rd to 4th. So I don't know...I'll be getting my car back tomorrow...and hopefully won't have to worry about another tranny but from the looks of things I think I'll be visiting the dealership more often...Damn Trannies...
