How Many 2nd Gen TLs Over 100K With No Tranny Probs?
Want to love my 03 TL-S long time, but concerned that she might start to hassle me in later years. Plus, I'm looking to pimp her out in a sick way but don't want to fork over too much jingle if she's just messing with me.......

there's already a "who has not had tranny trouble" thread.....but.....if you ask me, if i kept my 03 TLS that long, i wouldn't spend any money on it, so just in case true acura engineering kicks in (tranny goes....or other things) you can just get rid of it.
many people have their 2nd gens without any prob well into 150k....but i dunno if i would spend money on it......
or you could just spend around $2700 and get a rebuilt tranny with different internals which wouldn't be as shitty as stock. that way you'd have a better sense of security....all depends on your intentions after 100k.

Thanks for the reply. I know about the other thread, but I'm specifically concerned to find out how many have 2nd gen Tls over 100K without problems. I've got 54K on mine right now, so the question is do I keep past 100K, or get rid of it at 100K? This decision determines whether it's worth putting any extra money into it for mods...

there arent many members with 100k or more miles.
if your that concerned about it dont keep it. worrying about it will just bother you more. if you really want to "pimp" out the car do it and save up for a modified tranny thats stronger with better faster shifts, higher stall speed. with all sorts of mods it will make teh car quicker

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of looking at a tranny upgrade as a mod, but as you say it would have performance benefits as well as extending the useful life of the car. I really like this car and don't presently see another car that looks as cool inside and out without spending a fortune...
