Post How to make your 99-01 Bose radio read burned CD's

Ok I know iPods through the tape deck is a better alternative and CD's are basically phased out but still around. I always thought the head unit was no good since I put a bunch of CD's and sometimes it would play but good luck getting on the next track however put an original audio disc it will play it perfectly, Then after doing research found out it does not play burned discs, Bummer my friends older civic with factory cd player played them just fine.

Tried a lot of different formats, write speed and different brands nothing so I gave up, Then reading on the internet I saw an article about some high end disc players that wont read burned discs and offered some solutions, the one that stood out the most to me was adjusting the power of the laser so it can read burned discs.

So I went ahead took out the head unit unscrewed the 2 screws on the top cover and sure enough being a computer tech I was able to spot the adjustment on the laser, with a flat head screwdriver turned it a quarter counter clockwise from the factory position then tested before assembling it all together and I was amazed absolutely all my burned CD's worked.
Its been a year now and it still works perfect (how it should of been from factory new)
The best part of this mod is its free no need for another radio and if you live in an area full of thieves the stock radio should keep them away.

Never too late.....as these problems are still around for our nearly teenaged cars.
