Fast enough for the cops to notice.

130mph? Dayum, I hope you had some really good tires. It's too scary to go that fast with our stock tires. My car feels like it's hydroplaning on dry pavement when I'm doing +120mph already. can't wait for my 18" to arrive. I'll be driving a lot slower... don't want to hit any potholes at that speed, do ya!?

I've been 125 with the stock tires on wet pavement, straight road (599 coming back from Southcenter). Didn't want to pass anyone on that two lane freeway at that speed. I only had about 2200 miles on it too.

Cool

I've hit 138/139 while racing a Saab 95. I had my friend watching the speedo though because there were quite a few cars around and it was a road that I wasn't familiar with. I know the car would have done a bit more, but when you actually see that speed you start thinking too much about the "what-ifs" which causes sanity to kick in again. You want to see something funny, set your navigation to 1/20 mile and watch how fast the screen refreshes. It's like watching a video game.
Oh by the way, I whooped the Saab 95!

Highest was ~ 130 mph but I averaged 95 mph on a run
from my driveway in Beaverton, Or to the parking lot
of the hospital that my wife and father inlaw where at in Eugene, Or. a 110 mile trip in 70 minues.

The car did a great job the whole time. The nav got me to the hospital with out any errors.

i hit 140 and the funny thing is that the next day i went to discount tire and my tires looked like shit and they told me they were falling apart so i lucked out on that one whew don't know what would happen if i lost my baby. alright i'd probably just get another one but there would be a 10 minute span where i would be unconsolable!!!

I hit 143 on the PA Turnpike with all stock 99tl and never even changed tires. The tl is very solid at high speeds. I can't wait to see the diff. with some mods. and hp tires. I could have gone faster but, no radar , no mods/tires and lol no liquer. Lucky for me no cops. All I had was a navi guiding me with straight road ahead.

I'm a chicken compared to many other ppl on this board ...

Fastest has been 190km/h (115mph?) in the TL-S in STOCK form. When I hit a dip, I thought I was gonna float away and lose control -- almost crapped my pants. Now that I have some mods ... maybe I should see how the car handles now ...

What section of the GSP were you able to open it up? Whenever I've been on it, its been crowded or at least have a decent amount of traffic.

Same with the earlier poster on the Pulaski Skyway. What segment of the PS did you gun it?

Thx!

S/B I-81 just before entering PA state. Keeping up 110-120 with an M5, then he went for it and we had it up to 135 before deciding to slow down for traffic.

After the toll plaza at around exit 140, the highway is pretty straight for a bit, I was driving pretty early in the morning with a few cars, and I went around the cars at 120 - 125 mph, but then when I hit that stretch of road where it was straight I gunned it.

Your right, Brader....the prison is in Huntsville..... you can really open the car up right after you get out of Conroe since the roads are divided, so that allows you to scope out for the cops before the roads merge again...

Even though our cars are regulated at 148, can we get higher than that? If yes, how so?

142 mph on I57 about 10 miles N of Rantoul. Nice stretch of new asphalt. Had the wind at my back so the noise was minimal. Open the sunroof though and an instant spiked look hair style. It would have matched my expression if a deer or a cop had of been around.

Second Generation speed

I have 2 TL's 02 and an 04. The second generation is like driving a lightning bolt..It automatically seeks 85 mph on the hwy as a comfortable crusing speed. I hate to incriminate myself on the net but the car will go to 140 easily and feels stable and comfortable at that speed and the car has room for more at 140. Amazing!! I have to use the cruise control to keep the speed down.
The car is so smooth that it is hard to gauge the speed by the seat of my pants. When I think I am going 50, the speedo shows 80!!!
On the other hand, the 04 is a different animal, I am not sure if it is related to the "fly by wire" gas pedal or the engine is still breaking in. The 04 wants to cruise at 65 Mph and and just doesnt feel as slick or fast as the 02. Maybe I have a lemon or something is not adjusted correctly.
So far, comparing the 2 cars, the 2nd generation is a much better highway car. (if the tranny holds together)

Ya when I cruse in my ride, 90 feels like Im going slow or something. Its so smooth getting to 90, I have to use cruse alot also to keep it down. The car is great - not perfect, but perfect for my needs.

Going more than 115 MPH for a 30 minute stretch is amazing. Sounds like the autobahn.

if i'm correct, which i'm sure i am, the kit adds weight to ur car, therefore u go slower, so don't make it sound like the kit makes u go faster than other tl's

im sure it fu(ks up the areodynamics a little too, i mean just that extra 3 inches of front bumper or so makes that much more air to push at high speeds

Keep in mind I'm not defending the kit in anyway, but this statement is backwards. When racing, you want to have the LEAST amount of air travelling underneath your car as possible. Imagine the overall shape of the car as an upsidedown wing. The more air you have going under, the more it wants to lift off the ground.
