How do you take off the screws on the Rotors

I'm planning to change my rotors prettys soon, but last time I tried to take off the rotors,,,I couldn't get the retaining screw that holds the rotor to the hub off...with out stripping the screw. So if you were able to do this without stripping the screw...can you tell me which method you used..are there any special tools for this?
thanks

Yeah those screws are worthless. Try using an impact screwdriver. Or spray loads of WD40 and let it soak for about 5 mins. Then use mallet and hammer the screwdriver and turn. You may have to do it a few times before that sucker gets loose.

Get some spares from the dealer before you try. If you need to drill them out, at least you've got replacements.

I snapped one and had a tough time finding one on a weekend.

In my experience, WD-40 and a GOOD impact screwdriver always work (good meaning SNAP-ON or comparable)

Another option is to heat them up with a torch for a few minutes and then use the screw driver. If you torch them DO NOT use WD-40...it is highly flamable!!!

use PBLAST, you can find it at your local autoparts place or walmart.

it works like a charm.

Thanks for all your replys. Wouldn't heating it up make them expand and make it harder to take out? Also what exactly is an impact screw driver? how does it differ from a regular one.? thanks again.

Well, i'm no expert on Acura rotors. But heat does make things expand...but look at it this way...heating up the screw makes the screw expand but also the hole..=) Depending on the material they have different constants at which they expand and contract...so the hole and the screw might both get bigger, but the screw might start to shrink first while the hole is still enlarged.

An impact screwdriver is defintely the way to go. Just make sure you put some anti-seize on the screws when you put them back.

Not only that but the screws usually freeze in the slots and rust in there...if you heat them with a tourch you are burning the rust (weakening it).
