how do you remove the exhaust resonator?

Is it hard? Is it really loud? Will it decrease back pressue or give me more HP even if 1-2HP? What do you need to do to remove it?

To remove it, take it to a muffler shop, tell them to cut it out and replace it with a straight pipe. You will not get any more hp, just more sound. aarronn (sp?) did this a while back and he posted pictures of it.

Just curious...Have you ever crawled under your car and looked at your stock exhaust system? Doing so, you'd quickly see what you might be able to remove yourself. Plus, even if you can remove it, what are you going to replace it with?

Even the things that are not welded in, like the two mufflers are probably so rusted in place that you wont be able to get the bolts out. In order to install my CompTech Axleback, I had to take it to Midas. Nothing I had (1,000 lb ft impact wrench, penetrating oil, propane torch) would budge the nuts. Midas had to torch them off.

As for how loud it is...Even with sound clips, as good as they can be, there's no way to objectively describe how loud something is. That's why I specifically went with CompTech and bought the optional Quiet Tip inserts.

If you start cutting up the stock exhaust system and it turns out to be too loud, you are stuck, unless you get larger/longer mufflers or start welding things back in. An exhaust that sounds great for short trips around town can get really irritating on long trips.
