Post How is this deal?

I am working on trading in my 2000 TL for an 02 TLS. The dealer came $700 off sticker right away and threw in the window tinting, plus he is supposedly giving me the accessories at cost. I think that's BS, because he's charging me $2000 for the rear spoiler and the underbody spoiler, which combined lists for $2500, and I know their markup has to be higher than 20% on that. With tax and everything, it comes to right at $34k driveout.

On the trade-in side, they are offering me $21,5000 for my 2000 TL non-navi with 16k miles. This seems a little low to me, but maybe not too bad, considering you can get new 01 TLs all day long for 26k.

Also, the number they gave me for the lease payment seems high. Indeed, I punched in the same numbers on the Acura website and it came out with a lease payment $20/month less than they quoted me. I talked to the dealer this morning, and told him:

- throw in the moonroof visor
- add $800 to the tradein
- give me a better money factor on the lease so the payments are at least as good as the website

He moved easily on the money factor and the visor, but gave me the "I'll see what I can do" on the tradein.

So what do you all think? If they give me the extra on the tradein, it seems like the deal is pretty decent to me, but I just wanted to do a sanity check. I've seen that a few people here have gotten better deals, but these seem to be isolated incidences.

Sounds good to me! It's a better deal than I got!

I forgot to mention, the TLS is a non-navi.

Also, I checked Acura's website, and the list price for the spoiler and underbody kit is $2048. It looks like they just inflated their list price by $500 and then gave me a $500 discount.

Starting to get a little sour on the deal.

You should get leasing software so you can see if you are getting a good deal or not.

Well, I made the deal. I decided to upgrade to the navi. What I ended up with is:

2002 TL-S Silver/Ebony with Navi
Rear Spoiler
Underbody Spoiler
Moonroof Visor
Titanium Tint

$36k out the door.

When you add in all the accessories, that's about $1,500 under list. Also, the dealer I went to gives you the first 2 years of maintenance free. I have done all my service on my '00 TL at the dealer, so I know that 2 years of maintenance is worth about $800.

I also got them to come up a little on the trade-in. They gave me $21,800 for my '00 TL non-navi with 17k miles. I think that was pretty good, since CarMax offered me $23k and they usually offer the most. However, the dealer deal is better, because I save $1350 on taxes by trading it in.

Hopefully I will be able to pick it up tomorrow night - they're waiting on a new underbody kit to arrive tomorrow.

Thanks for all your input.

Mike
