horribly warpped rotors....
well my car finally broke the 10k miles point, and the all-so-common warpped rotors problems is getting dangerous here.
i have been feeling the shaky steering wheel and choky stops when i brake since around 8k miles but it's getting serious. it doesn't matter whether i brake hard to soft.
this past weekend i came back from LA to san jose, and within that 5 hrs drive the brakes were horrible. as long as i was going 80mph (the faster the worse) and brake moderately, the steering wheel and the car would shake horribly to the point where things in my car rattles vigourously. the steering wheel was simply going left and right shaking that i couldn't even feel the road anymore and didn't know if i was going straight or what.
it was so horrible (and at the same time dangerous) and i was forced to drive much slower than what i would have been. i already got an appointment with acura of pleasanton this weekend and will get my squeaking seat belt and rattle sunroof fixed as well....
of course i get a loaner, just a matter of what car i will be driving @_@

i guess i will try to ask them to get me new rotors and brake pads. coz' resurfacing it is definitely not helping much if the rotor itself is already the problem......
and yeah, both stan (stanman) and jason (ke6tip) got warpped rotors too @_@

btw guys i got a pretty big problem about the warpped rotors...
remember i said that i was driving either fast OR slow and my car was shaking when i braked?
now these two days when i am driving either fast or slow and brake the car seems normal..... the wheel is not shaking (at least not noticeable) and the car isn't shaking.
can someone explain the possibiltiy? i am bringing my car in on sat so i gotta explain to them...

My rotors were resurfaced at about 20k. I think I had a similar problem to what you're describing. Sometimes they would shaky and shimmy like crazy and other times, nothing. I think it has to do w/ how hot the rotors are.
The more braking you do, the hotter the rotors get, the more warped they become (I guess) and the worse the shaking gets.
Sometimes I would go for several days and have no problems as I was driving mostly around town -- slow speeds, moderate braking. Then, one hard brake on the highway and it would shake like mad.

Not a bad idea man I may do that...or just get up to about 150mph, then slam on your brakes, making sure you go through a 2 foot deep puddle right when you get down to about 10mph.

Something I was thinking about...I think this after I've taken my rotors in to get fixed twice in 4k miles...yeah, that's right so far every 2k miles...the third time I bring it in I'm going to see if I can cut a deal with Acura, maybe call TLC and say "Hey, do me a favor...you guys need to replace my rotors, and it doesn't seem to be doing crap, and it's a danger to me not to be able to brake. Instead of maybe ending up bringing up a lawsuit against you guys, how about you help me buy a set of Comptech Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors? I want them anyway, and that way you wouldn't have to keep shelling out money to fix these and I would be happy." That's what I'm going to try to use on them.

The service rep didn't seem surprised when I reported the trouble. I think it's a fairly common problem w/ the TL and I think he had seen it before.

warped rotors
Hey Henry,
Acura fixed my warped rotors problem, they turned the rotor and new brake pads for the fronts. I will eventaully go with cross drilled rotors, ss brake lines and new pads later when I need to replace them. So I won't fuss Acura about new rotors for now anyway. Let us know when you'll be back down here in LA.
