Horns

I'm from the Acura legend forums and I have a question that nobody couls answer on there, so I turned to you guys because TLs are oretty close to legends since they are V6's. On my 1987 Legend, I fell that the horn is barely even noticable, my uncle manged to get two Camry Horns for me, he goes to the junkyards too much, so ive been trying to install them and make them work. The first thing you must know is that one of my horn died on me. So I have exactly one wimpy horn. Now the Legend's horn system is different from the Camry's. The Legend has two wires, I believe that one is negative and one is postive, while the Camry's horn only has one wire, the postive. The Camry uses the car's frame as the ground. So if I hook up the legend's positive to the Camy horn's postive and bolt it onto the frame, the original and hte Camry horn would go off without you needing the press on the horn button. I have no idea how too hook them up because they are so different. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Sounds like the Legend's horn is controlled by the negative wire. To confirm this, check to see if there's 12V in the positive wire. If so, then that positive wire is always hot, and horn button turns on the horn by closing the negative wire.

To make the camry horn work, you need to mount it to the frame using plastic or wood or some sort of insulating (non-metal) bracket. Connect the positive wire to the horn's positive. Connect the negative wire to some metal part of the horn - probably the bolt that you used to mount the horn to the insulating bracket. That should do it.

I am going to hook these up, then I'm going to get air horns and have a switch to make them turn on with the regulars or not.
