Horn for Keyless Entry System
Hey I noticed that my keyless entry system is not connected to the horns behind the front bumper like the 02+ TL models are. For my car they use a separate horn that rests on top of the strut tower. I hate how this thing sounds (it "beeps" like a toy), is there any way I can connect the existing harness to the horns up front? I want a real "toot" when I lock my doors! THanks!

it that why there is two horns in the 99 in front of the rad???
they look identical, I don't see there beeing a different sound coming out of each horn. maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't notice much difference between the two horns. if you tap the horn (at steering wheel) you will have a very short beep that does sound kinda girly, but I think tht's just because of the short sound, if you press it down it gets a little deeper.

on my 99 tl there does appear to be a horn on the drivers side strut tower, as well as two horns in the front.
to the original poster, i personally believe the electronic beep sounds better than the horn when u arm the alarm. the grass is always greener on the other side i guess.

- Well there are two different systems involved here. The piezo buzer for Keyless entry located on the driver side wheel well and the dual (high/low) car horns for Alarm and driver use while driving.
- If you want to beep the horns for keyless activities you just need to add a 12VDC relay between the buzer and the horn circuit. Or better yet if you have the wiring diagram of this car: find the existing horn relay and drive it with the white wire from the piezo buser. No need for a diode here (when you honk the buser beep will be covered by the two electric horns anyways)
- This weekend I did a mod to relocate the piezo buzer at the front in an open space near the battery because the beeper sound is hard to hear 30 feet away from the car. I have a CLs'01 with the same buzer and the beep is not mufflered like on the TL.
- For safety reason I did a second mod on the horns. I added an independant air horn circuit so if some SOB tries to silence the alarm by short-circuiting the horns fuse the independant horn will still sound. Just get the power from the moonroof circuit (40Amp) to drive the compressor (25Amp). While I was at it I added a foot switch so I can hunk with my left foot and/or from the steering wheel.
