Hood problems

Hi,

Whenver I got a question I always get help here so I just want to thank everyone.

I got a problem opening my hood the "shock" seems to longer work properly.

I have a 99TL. I rather replace the both. I tried WD-40 and nothing.

Where can I get these on the net what are they called by exactly?

I don't want to go to the dealer as they will charge me an arm and a leg?

Thanks

most auto parts stores like pep-boys and autozone sell them for about under $25.00 each. They are what you called them, shocks that keep the hood lifted, hood supports. There's usually a book or something you can look up your car to get a part# and get the part # from the shelf. My experience with these (I replaced the ones for my hatch on my talon several times) has been that the ones from the dealer are usually better and match and bolt on easier. Call acura first & see how much they charge. If too much, check out local auto parts stores.

I got a couple Strong Arms for my Talon and they've lasted longer than the originals.

For many cars, and TL may very well be one of them, there are no aftermarket supports. So have to go to dealer. Or can try junk yards - may score new supports off totaled '03. I am not sure if they are the same as '99 - check part numbers...
