Honda transmission fluid

Honda transmission fluid
Is there really a difference between using Honda transmission fluid, like the manual suggests, and standard Dexron III ATF?? How many people here whose trannies died used Honda fluid exclusively?

Just about everyone says use Honda fluid exclusively. Even some of the biggest names in aftermarket performance fluids (Redline) say don't use their stuff in our cars--Honda ATF only. I wouldn't mess with it.
