Thats how they all are. right when you turn it on u get this deep blue/purple look but after it heats up the color is like a light purple. not as dark as bmw's and lexus though.

This is normal. All TLs 99-02 have lens type HID headlights while BMWs use projector headlights (glass domed) which produces that purple color at certain angles. The bulbs for HID are the same.

Just got my 2002 TL. Noticed that the 2001 and under have a brighter lighting system. Mine is very bright (purplish) when you first turn it on, then it sort of dims down. Still white but not the purplish Bimmer look.
