HID sines top half only
So i have a 01 acura tl
-i recently painted my housing silver and got a 55w DDM HID kit
but now the light only glows on the top half of the headlight, is that normal? im thinking it is because of the holder thing for the lightbulb in the housing. but looking at others peoples pics there whole housing glows.
-is that because of the camera because i could only see it when i take a picture from the bottom of the headlight.
from the top view:
from the bottom, just the lowbeam:
is this normal? but it souldnt be since it should shine all around
if not what is the problem?

when I swapped housings on my 01:
there was a small silver/bare/polished metal cover piece that goes above the bulb and directs light- It fell inside once,,then got it secured wih the 2 small screws,,,,iirc one went to the locking arm that holds the bulb in
Did you put the bulbs in right side up?
why did you do a kit? bad ballast from leaking lens of housing? how much did you spend for what parts? let others know of good deals!

how is your light on the road in front of the car?
and the aim? possible for that to have changed with removing housing and mounting bolt adjustments
new bulbs take ~50 hours use to get fully bright and color stable
drive with lights on all the time to get them burned in

i can elaborate on this. my light shines only at the top when looking at it from a distance also. mines look like the first little image of the first headlight. the second headlight looks a little off. my lights certainly brightens up the road and there is minimal glare in the mix.
i never touched the inside of my headlights, i only replaced them with hidextra's 5000k's and they work like a charm, i must say!

hmm the only thing i saw in side the housing was the cover, and it had a opening on the top part of it.
well the way i saw the bulbs it could only be put in one way. and the metal spring/wire tht hold it in place
i did the kit because it was 55w so it is brighter then the stock 35w also i got 6000k bulbs. the ballasts should be good since the bulbs are still turning on. I got it for 80-90 from ddmtuning.com but need to order the harnesses also.

i've had the kit for about 2 weeks and it has gotten brighter, but the bottom half still isn't lite up. My burn time should be good, since i drove with them on all the time since i got them installed.

the light is suppose to show only through the top half if you have reflector type headlights w/ hids. thats how it's legally suppose to be.
the light that signs at the bottom is what reflects up and shines in other drivers eyes. This isn't noticed with halogen headlights but the higher intensity of HIDs causes you to notice it much more.

come to think of it. i was curious to what way or position my headlight bulbs were pointing and mines beaming only at the top. so that is the correct way and its how the headlight should be.
maybe you didn't realize that and when you replaced the existing ballasts and igniters you and looked at it for your very first time you thought something was wrong but in reality it isn't because the bulbs are suppose to beam at the top.
hope this helps and god bless!
