HID info Please Help

OK I have an 02 tls.
I know very little about the components that make up a HID lamp. I know the basic principles of how it works but thats it.
I didnt know I had a ballast on my lights until i read it here. So i would love it if someone could explain to me the basic parts of a hid system.
I've been to hids4less but it really dosnt answer my questions. id love to upgrade my low beams to 6000k and convert my high beams to HID is this possible? how do i do it? what do i need to order? thanks in advance

Here is a link that explains the principle's of HID lighting.

http://www.howstuffworks.com/framed....m/~don/d2.html

I just put in my 6000K D2R bulbs in my '02 TL-S today:wow:. Very nice light.....much better then the stock 4300K?.

All you need to do is to buy the 6000K Philips D2R "Cool Power Xenon" bulb's. (85Volts 35watts P32d-3) Don't worry about the volts and what not, just ask for 6000K D2R's. There's only two kinds, D2S for projector style lights and D2R for our reflector type lights. They are a direct swap for our stock set-up. Just undo a few things to gain access to the low beams and swap.....wala! Easy as 123. No need to change anything else but the grin on your face.

I bought my bulbs from autolamps-online.com Even though they are in England, they are fast shippers. I had mine Express shipped by UPS and I tracked it being shipped at 4/4/02 from the UK and it came to me (NYC) at 4/5/02 at 9:30AM:wow:. I couldn't believe it.

Good luck and if you have any more questions, maybe during installation, feel free to ask as many of us here would gladly help you.

this was another recent thread with some more info.

because hid lights take alittle time to come to full brightness it is not recommended to convert the high beams to hid but if ur not concerned about instant on high beams ,,yes u can convert the high beams to hid also.....but most people just replace the high beams with hyper white bulbs and if ur planning on doing the higher wattage ones,,,,,,u better get a heavy duty wire harness set up for it .

I believe there is 9005 HID conversion kit available, but I don't recomend putting it though. Why do you need HID high beam?? to blind other people??
