HID Headlights on a 1999 TL
Hey guys,
I just noticed one of my HID's are going dim and I'm looking to get a few answers about replacement bulbs before I go out and order a pair. I guess I have two options: (1) Buy a replacement bulb or (2) Use this as an excuse to upgrade... I'm leaning towards option (2) right now
.
Anyway, so my questions are:
(1) I have seen 5500K and 6000K bulbs. Is there a big difference between the two? I do not want to loose a lot of light output so I was leaning towards the 5500k. If there is a minute difference, I'll go with the 6000k.
(2) What's a good brand of bulbs to get?
(3) What's a good site to buy them from at a good price?
(4) How hard are they to install? Can I do it myself?
Thanks in advance for all your replies.
Cheers,
Rosh

okay all good questions...
1) if you don't want the ricey blue light like i do, (8000K) and losing output, then go with 5000ks, or something close...6000ks are cool too....(buy bulbs in pairs)
2) phillips is pretty awesome. good quality bulbs.
3) I bought my 8000ks from hidking.com for $130 shipped i think. they have 6000ks too. it's been a few months, and so far so good.
4) i can tell you they aren't hard to install at all for a 03 TL....it just takes patience...99 TLs aren't a sealed HID are they?....dunno about that.
definitely buy the bulbs in pairs though....cuz they may not match older bulbs sometimes. hope this helps, dude. -peace
