Well ... if you want a manual, only the 2003 CL-S has that option. If you want 4 doors and a manual, take a look at a 2004+ TL. Some people like a 2 door coupe and the CL-S is a nice car. Also won a JD Power Award recently. Mod potential is pretty good since the engine (J32) is shared between the TL and CL. However, exterior options are limited. More outside mod potential for the TL.
Another con for the TL is the fact only an automatic tranny is available. There are some on this board who have had to replace the tranny (under warranty) more than once. After you hit 100,000 miles, this might be a big concern due to cost.
Good luck with your car search. If you want to see what this car can 'beat' on the drag strip, I would advise you look at the competition subforum.

yeah i have to say that derrick put it down pretty well. it's a matter of taste in most cases. 2 door vs. 4 door. 6sp vs. automatic. the modding potential is nearly the same as there are body kits available for both cars (not many in general but a couple).
the automatic tranny is known for failures, BUT...so far there have been no known failures of the newest revision to the tranny, which was released February 2005. it's a little early, but we haven't seen nearly as many infant failures like we did before. some people's *new* trannies would fail as they drove off the dealer lot. ridiculous.
the interior in the CL is arguably better than the TLs as well. you should drive one of each and make your decision based on your experience.
