they can get rid of that in 5 mins. When I first picked my car up, the light was on, I took it in the next day and they fixed it in about 5 min and I was on my way.

Hi,

Had the same problem this week.
Just took my car of the dealer this afternoon.

System have been reset, was showing a code 15-30.
Meaning that maybe the OPDS is defective.
If the SRS light comes on again after this reset they
will order and replace the OPDS.

Total cost if replace: Approx. $1000cad.
But this part is still under warranty under the major warranty
of 5 years/100,000km. Seams like my cellular phone left on the
passenger seat could also had trigger the OPDS.

So everything was done at NO charge.
I also have an Acura extended warranty for 7years/160,000km.
Still the OPDS is NOT covered by Acura extended warranty...
So maybe i should consider myself lucky...

By the way i own a 2000 TL with 84,000km.

i went to this place to get it checked out, but they said they can't look at it cuz someone stoled their machine. I made an appointment with Acura and they said its gonna cost $93 to look at it and its gonna take an hour. i have a 2000 TL and its at 54K, just past the warranty.

Are you sure that you're not eligible for warranty?

In Canada all the Acura 2000TL model have the Seat Belts,
the Seat Belt warning control unit, the SRS air bag module,
the SRS control unit/sensors and finally the SRS harness
covered under the standard Acura Warranty.
Check you warranty coverage for the major components.
(Engine,transaxle, occupant protection, etc...)
In Canada it is five years/100,000km.

Unless it is a different warranty in the US you should be covered.
Basic warranty in Canada is 3years/60,000km
Major components is 5years/100,000km
Catalytic converter and ECM are 8years/130,000km

SRS control unit/sensors are clearly stated in the occupant protection.

Don't forget that in Canada we use kilometers NOT miles...
1 mile=1.6 kilometer

So 100,000km = +/-62,500miles

Oh! That's bad.

I thought Acura warranty was the same for both countries.
Looks like canadians owners are protected for a longer period.
Same cars should have the same warranty....

Sorry for s5nake5, looks like there is no warranty left for you.

My SRS light came on at 52k miles - just typical that it would happen just after the car was out of warranty. Anyway i did a search on this site and the 2 most common causes for the SRS light are a defective switch inside either the front driver or passenger seat belt buckle, or a defective switch under the front passenger seat cushion. I dont know about the latter, but if your problem turns out to be the seat belt buckle switch, which was the problem in my car, its not publicized but the seat belt is actually warrantied for the life of the vehicle, and that includes BOTH the shoulder strap as well as the buckle, so Acura will replace it for free, and pick up the labor charge too boot. I got mine fixed at no charge, nada, a freebie!

They left that machine in my car when they worked on it. I took it home

SRS light

The most likely problem is the sensor in the seatblet buckle- I have an 00 TL and had this problem within the past 2 weeks- it was fixed under warranty as the seatbelts are permanently covered under warranty. It was a problem in a sensor in the passenger side buckle. Best of Luck to you. I don't recommend to anyone just to reset the computer for the SRS- obviously you don't want airbag failure just to save a few $$$.

I failed to mention in my last post that my car had ~ 53K miles when the SRS light went on, and it was fully covered at no cost to me.

that was the exact problem and it was done for free under the lifetime warranty.

thanks to all

I just got done putting an amp and sub in my 2000 with navi and disconnected the battery a few times when wiring the amp. I also took the cover of the sills and the pillar of the driver side seatbelt. When I connected everything and test drove the car I noticed the srs light was on and never turned off. I have about 65000 miles on the car and if I went to the dealer and told them (specifically) to check the seatbelt buckle sensor, do you think they would fix it and won't try to say the problem is something else and charge me for fixing it.

I had our old '01 MDX in the shop twice for SRS sensor problems in the passenger seat.

its very easy to do yourself. i wrote a detailed post on this no more than 2 weeks ago using info someone else had posted before. unfortunately the search is down right now or i would link it. all you will need is a paper clip and screwdriver to get to the terminal block to reset it. you will jump the terminal in a specific sequence and it wont take you more than 30 seconds.

we all know now (including myself and ive only had my car a month) that the SRS light comes on for the littlest thing. even blowing the fuse to the moonroof caused mine to come on (dont ask).

dont worry about it and wait til the search is up ( i honestly cant remember the sequence or i would tell you). check through my profile and maybe it will bring you right to the post.

they should fix it either way though if your under warranty.
good luck!
