help please.

Well a rock put a hole in one of my fog light lenses. I plan on replacing it with the LEXAN plastic. But anyways it rained today and my fog bulb blew out. I'm going to get the pair of the Eaglite 9006 bulbs but I have a question.

Our stock bulbs require the 9006 @ 51watts (correct). Well in this thread (see below) many of you have been using the Eaglite 80watt bulbs. Eaglite sells the 55watt and the 80watt bulbs. Is the 80W safe to install? What are the advantages/disadvantages to the 80watt?

Also should I go for the "Super Whites" or the "Xeon" pair?

I've used Hella 55W, Slyvania CoolBlue 55W, Eaglight 80W, MAX 55W, and now MAX 80W. All of them were fine and did not melt any wiring harnesses.

I use the Sylvania Silverstar 9006ST 55W in the fogs and just installed the 9005ST in the day time runner/high beams.....worth the extra dollars.

Well I tried to explain this many times but is not sinking in, 80W, 100W, it doesn't matter if what you are looking for is peace of mind as far as the wiring then you have to go with the bulbs that gives you the most output using the least amount of current/watts. JEAN mentioned Hella, those are very good bulbs, I use PIAA because the quality, light output, color and most important very low consumption (ie. current/watts).
Most of the modern automobiles use high quality low gauge wiring giving them a broad range of current usage but when you push the limits of this wiring by adding high current consuming bulbs then you have a problem. You might not see this right away but take a long trip when most of the driving is at night and you are constantly using your lights and eventually you could overheat the wires and have a electrical meltdown and possibly a fire. Read a little before you add some of this crazy mods. Good luck.

u will be fine cars i believe 99 and above can handle higher wattage bulbs i know this because i had a 96 blazer and if i ever wanted to convert to higer wattage i would have 2 get em rewired but i believe and this is what i was told the newer cars can hold the higer wattage w/out the wires melting or anything like that w/older cars it was a catch 22 because sometimes it was fine other times the wires melted.....but i feel u should be fine peace

I have the eaglites 80w in my fogs for over 5 months now. They are great and no problems. Look at my sig. Nice and bright, but not as nice as my 6000k.

Putting higher wattage bulbs will burn your WIRES!!! I can vouch for that!! I had a 2000 Accord, and I put in those aftermarket bulbs, since they appealed to me, and didnt care about the wattage, and what happened was ... for the first 2 years not a problem. I think I had to change the bulb once. Then as time progressed, I started changing bubls once in 3 months to 2 months all the way to once in 3 WEEKS!!! Then one da when I was inspecting my wires and the connectors, I saw clearly that that it had been burnt. And the left side would burn out first and then my right side would go with any bulbs I put in after that. It was a real PITA!! Luckily I traded in my car duing the day time for the Type S..hahaha!! But in my opinon do pay attention to the wattage, in the long run you wont regret it.

Especially with your fogs, since you will run them quite frequently. I mean if it was your high beams that no worries, because they only go on once in a while and for maybe an hour at the most. But dont mess with your fogs and your low beams. I read somwhere that if the dealer sees that your wires are burnt because of aftermarket bubls, that will void your warranty.

Just my opinoin.
