Sierra is kinda heavy IMO. Just put it in SS and redline it all the way!

If I'm not mistaken he should take you off the line like up to 30-40 mph because of his torque but then you should be able to walk pass him after that. You might try power braking to help you have a better launch to beat him off the line too.

Good luck and represent!

Vortec is Chevy's fancy name for their FI engines, sorta like how Honda/Acura has VTEC for their engines; not that I'm saying that Vortec and VTEC are the same technology-wise but as far as marketing goes they have the same intent--namely to dazzle you with some fancy names.

ACURA 3.2tl 2K--I could be wrong but I don't think your buddy's '02 GMC Sierra 1500 has the 5.7 Vortec (I know you said you didn't know much about American cars but IIRC the 5.7 is no longer offered on GM trucks); the only engines offered for the '02 Sierra are 4.3/6, 4.8/8 and 6.0/8. Having said that, if he has the 6.0/8 with the mods he says he has--he should give you a decent run for the money. You definitely won't easily pull away from the 6.0/8, especially in an TL-P; I know--it took me a little time to slowly pull away from a '02 Yukon XL Denali (which BTW comes with the 6.0/8) in my stock '02 TL-S from a rolling 70 mph...

YOU SHOULD EAT HIM FOR AN Early morning snack Don't even waste your rubber. Just put it in D5 with no powerbrake and see how that goes. You should pull pretty hard in 1st and 2nd.
Thats one heavy truck! Big V8 yes, but its still a heavy truck.
I heard they are pretty fast...

Btw VORTEC AND VORTECH are 2 totally different things. Vortec is like VTEC and comes with GM/Chevy's motors. VORTECH makes superchargers for mostly domestics.

GM's Definition:

The term Vortec is derived from the "vortex" (the physical
phenomenon) and advanced GM engineering technologies. A vortex is a whirling mass, much like a tornado. GM engineers harnessed the power of a vortex within an engine's combustion
chamber to achieve more power and greater efficiency.
