Help! Help! Help! asap pleese...

Hi,

I took my car to the dealer with the transmission problem. They just called me and said that the tranny is good but I need a "COIL PACK". They said that one of the cylinders is bad. 174 parts and labor.

They also said I need front brakes and rotors cut $288.00

Any advice

As far as the cylinders go i would get it fixed by them on the other hand rather than spending 288 on just gettin the brakes resurfaced ( all they do is clean the rotars with sand paper and put new break pads in) , go and get yourself aftermarket break pads, they are cheaper and last longer than OEM parts. Resurfacing comes standard if you get all four rotars installed from any brake shop. lata

i take it your car isnt under warranty? i would recomend getting the coilpack fixed for sure. the brakes are another subject. does your steering wheel shake when you apply the brakes? if so having them turned is just a bandade to the problem of warped rotors

How many miles on your TL? The dealer where I live changed my brakes and rotors for me twice, once around 36K to 38K and second around 46K this was all done within the regular warranty. My rotors kept on getting warped. See if your dealer will do this for you.

get these problems fixed at an local mechanic. part for the coil pack OEM is approximately $50.
replace front brake pads and rotors with after market. i wouldn't suggest getting the rotors resurface. the rotors will soon warp again.

Okay, they found the tranny problem and said they would either fix it or put in the kit. They will be doing the Coil Pack.

As for the brakes, any suggestions on what brand of aftermarket brakes? (something that won't squeak)

I just got the car from a non acura dealer and bought additional warranty. The dealer will refund the cost of the coil and they said they will do the brakes themselves...

Thanks, alot...

In NYC here and the protesting is crazy....

With the EBC pads, do I need to resurface or change the rotors?

Anyone know of a store in NYC I can purchase these?

I had a bad coil in my old infiniti.... it caused the engine to shake and feel like the tranny was slipping. It got so bad the car automatically shut down one cylinder. You need to get this fixed... as a prologned condition can cause damage to your car's health!!!!! I payed like 300 bucks for my infiniti to get fixed, so thats not THAT bad of a price. Do it!

I picked up the car yesterday & the car drives great. It really pulls...

As for the brakes, I found a place in Queens that has them for 150 for all four.

The internet has them for 138.
