Help with gas mileage!

Ok so i have a 2002 type s. My last tank i only got 375 kms off a full tank. This fill ive gotten 400 kms. Please note this is kilometres as i live in canada. I see some of you on the forums getting ALOT more than me. I cant really see myself driving anymore concervative than i am now...what can i do to get better mileage?!? Another thing is im getting a full catback apexi dual exhaust system for 300 from a friend. Will it weigh the car down and use more gas or will having better exhaust boost fuel economy?

dont use any less than 91!!!!

everything from spark plug age, egr port cleaning, tb cleaning, general internal cleaning of engine (seafoam), tire pressures, and more can effect fuel economy

if you are creeping up to speed thats not good for it--use 2500-3000 rpm with medium throttle to get to speed- then it gets in highest gear for that speed and saves gas

see the 100 other fuel threads for more info

did you seafoam the gas yet?--thats really important for getting the injectors clean

1 can to 8 gallons- just under 1/2 tank

valve adjustment will help-always a few out of spec by now, and perfect setting makes for better mileage

that exhaust isnt going to help until you solve the main problem with fuel use
even then its not a fuel saver- its a ~performance part~

Ummm ... driving in Vancouver is like driving in a parking lot -- you'll get no where ... fast. 375km on a tank of gas in such horrible traffic isn't bad. It sucks that you're paying C$1.40-ish / litre for premium, though. The best way to get the most out of the tank is to drive with a light foot (not a lead foot) and anticipate the stops in traffic and let the car coast ...

If you wanted a car that got better fuel economy, you should have gone with a Fit or any other car with a small displacement engine. Personally, I think the TL does great for the power / luxury you get for a 99-03 model year.

the TL is for Touring in Luxury not for Town Lugging

it takes a lot of energy to get that much mass moving and up to speed
then brake to a stop and start the process all over again

practice all the tricks of lifting early for a light, brake early so you arrive with some speed as the light goes green,
much easier to get an object in motion to go faster motion~

would the Canuks please do the conversions on your post

why should we have to figure out liters cost how much per gallon,
and how far are you really going,,not that metric mile,,
We're Americans!!,,,,, we dont have to learn metric
Tried in 1972, repealed by Congress in 1976,,you cant make us!!

1 Liter: 0.264 Gallons
1 US Gallon: 3.785 Liters

So 1 Gallon makes up for something 3.5 Liters to Simplify
3.5 Liters at 1.40 its 3.5x1.40 = 4.9 the Gallon. More Accurate would be 5.299 bucks a Gallon more or less.

Actually aside from US, Alaska and Puerto Rico, Most of the Continent of America uses the Metric System... So I think is up to US to learn about it...

Its like when I travel to México sometimes I forgot and look up to the speed Signal and says 60kph and Silly me travels to 60mph but thats about 100kph so Im actually speeding. Funny Times.
