HELP! dented my hood

fuck parking in the city....last night i was squeezing into a tiny spot and there was a nissan pathfinder with a huge tire on the back..the tire pushed onto my hood and now theres a dent thats maybe 3 or 4inches right on the tip of my hood

the dent is just a line maybe 3 or 4 inches, but theres a small slope that leads the the line, so it looks a little bigger, i wish i had pics but i cant

it really looks like something that you can just pop out...what shold i do? i was thinking take it to a body shop and pay labor for them to just pop it out, but is there a way i can pop it out myself?

I think you would leave that to the body shop, there is a dealership here that will pop it out if possible for $75 per panel.. some other places charge $50 per dent. Paintless dent removal....

Did you pay back the pathfinder with a dent as well?

Denting the Pathfinder is something only a doofus would do.

i guess you can always try to pop it w/ your hand my tapping on the hood, then try using that magnet thing they sell at the stores. report back to us to tell us if it worked..... if all else fails look for those PDR. that's what i would do if i had a big dent..

So much hostility from someone who focused on the bumper of an SUV rather than the tire headed for the hood.

I would find someone who did paintless dent removal, dents like that aren't going to be easy to remove.

Nobody was getting on your nuts to begin with...just a clarification for bxscig. No need for the language. Mistakes happen and I am sure everyone has their fair share of them. No big deal. I would take my car to a body shop. You could try it yourself but you run the risk creasing it or making dents going the opposite wat if you try to bang it out yourself from under the hood. I have heard that if you get some dry ice and put it on there on a real hot day...the dent may pop out by itself from the temperature shock. All methods you could try but I would take it to the body shop if you have the $$ for it.

yea my bad i got kinda mad....i get off work at 1am so pretty much every spot around my house is taken by then...plus the fact that im tired and annoyed as fuck at having to drive around 3 blocks looking for parking, and then some fuckhead in a pathfinder takes up two spots

i wish i had my 91 accord dx with the black rubber bumpers...whenever some rude fuck would take up two spaces i would litteraly just smash myself into a spot, fuck having a nice car hahaha

most dents larger than small hail damage or door dings cant be poped out. id take it to a paintless dent place and let them see if they can work it out. hoods (down low) are harder due to access availability with the structural members

Dry Ice can be obtained at most grocery stores, just have to ask for it.

Now the question of the week....does this actually work or is this message board fodder? (As in, yes I've tried it and it worked...not someone heard it from this one guy who knew a guy who's roommate's cousin's mechanic said it worked)

I have 5 good dime sized dents on my driver's side courtesy of my wonderful neighbors...2 will require repainting and both are on the driver's door. It'd be nice to get the others out, even if it's just less dinged. Or danged. Or dang. Or whatever it is

I'm surprised some of you guys would suggest dry ice without having actual experience using it on a car... I mean this is coming from people who would think twice about using Dawn to wash their car . I definitely wouldn't consider using dry ice on the panels of my car without talking to someone who's actually done it before... Seems like it has the capability of doing a lot of paint damage.

just find a paintless dent removal place. most actaul dents hve stretched the metal and needs to have teh metal slowly worked back into position (as to not crack and flake the paint), and that needs to be done by someone who knows what there doing. its not as simple as just pushing on the dent and "POPING" it out.
