Headlight Ground/Short

Headlight Ground/Short
My driver's side headlight is not working. I switched my working passenger side light to the driver's side and it did not work either. That would rule out a bad ballast and/or bulb. My next guess is that it's a short or loose ground. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or something that can get me started? I am clueless when it comes to electrical work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was there any evidence of moisture present ? How did the connections appear ?
Have ya checked the fuse and relay ?
Inspect the wiring and ground. Could be a faulty ignitor/ballast on the non-working side.
Check the "DIY" sticky and previous related threads on our 2nd Gen HID's.
Ya may wanna consider replacing the old HID setup with the newer improved kits available for under $100.

There was moisture on the non-working side about 3 months ago. I think it happened when I used a high pressure wand at the car wash. The connections appeared to be ok. I checked the fuse and it was ok. After further inspection, I finally found the relay switch, I think. Is it in the fuse box under the hood? I believe it is call lighting relay. Does that sound right?
I took the bumper off yesterday and opened the light that had moisture in it. I painstakingly scraped all the old caulking off the light and replaced it with new silicone. I also cracked open the ballast of the light that was in question and didn't notice any corrosion. So I sealed it back up.
Are the ballasts interchangeable from left headlight to right headlight? For some reason the ballast on the right would not fit the igniter on the left side. After all that, the non-working light works except when it is on, and then I turn it off and back on, it will not come back on immediately. I have to let it sit a few minutes.
Do you have any pictures of where the ground wire connects? I tried to trace it back but it lead into several wires that were bundled together and I got lost.
Bottom line is, these lights are a pain!!!! I read through several hours of threads in the past few weeks. Seems to me like there are several different issues and more issues than solutions. I don't want to be one of the people that buy new ballasts and lights only to find out that wasn't the issue.
How do you check the relay switch with a multimeter to see if it works?

May be the ignitor, maybe time for updating the old system to the new HID kits !!!

Unfortunately knocking on my headlight didn't work. Does anyone have pics of where the ground wire connects?
There are so many threads on this issue. I think mine must be an electrical short or something which I have no idea how to fix.
What are symptoms that you need to upgrade to the aftermarket HID kits? I don't have money to do the upgrade at this point and I am seeking an economical solution.

There are 2 relays and 2 fuses in the under hood fuse panel. Have you checked/tested/swapped those to see if it solved the issue? If so then I would try switching the ballast from the working side to the non working side and see if it works or not.

swapping didn't test igniter- the oft damaged part when moisture is present
if you found water inside after pressure wash = you need to go for the replacement system,,if not dead yet its hurt,,
notice that drain hole on bottem of housing?? see where it drips? ooops
do yourself a major favor and spend 59 bucks with www.hidextra.com for a complete new package
get the 5000k bulbs,

at BEST our lights parts were made in the late 1990s!
would it be logical that 10 years of use is a good life
and
technology has come 25 years in the last 10..
