Has anyone refinished stock type-s wheels?
Hey everyone, this is my first post here
I have a 2003 TL type-s that I picked up a few months ago. Runs good but overall the exterior is pretty beat. Looking to refinish the wheels while retaining the original machined look. Any suggestions? Or should I just paint them plain silver.
also on the lookout for a silver OEM bumper in the NJ area.
thanks in advance.

Hey Connorh3, welcome, and congrats on nailing your first post...far too many botch it
I think it depends on how bad you wheels are? I would say there are three levels of damage?
1. Cosmetically they aren't curbed or scratched they are just dull looking: they are covered in a clear coat, and sometimes a good polishing will bring the pop back.
2. They've been curbed lightly: You possibly need to strip existing clear coat, repair & refinish. This can be tricky as the flat face of the wheel is machine finished in a specific direction (which to me I think adds a great deal of character to the wheel)
3. They've been curbed or damaged significantly you gotta do all the stuff in point number 2, but you also run the risk that the wheel may be bent so replacement would probably be a better bet.
I would NOT paint them silver, unless you want them to have the same finish as a 3G TL wheel.
