I am trying to hard wire my escort 8500 i ordered the wire but i dontknow which wire i can plug into in the fuse area. i need a 12 volt conection. has ne1 done this or know how to, pics too if you have them, thanks marc

 

When I hardwired my Valentine, I striped the wire and literally shoved it into Fuse #13 (windshield wipers) and put the fuse back in. It's been like that for almost a year and no electrical problems.

 

you can tap a switched 12 volt power source behind the driver side fuse box, looking at it from the back, lower left side. there's three points you can tap from, I don't know which one is switched.

I think the lowest one is a constant 12--but check it with a multimeter.

 

That's what I did (12 volt power source). I tried to stay away from fuses that powered other important functions (like wipers). Didn't want to lose functions if a fuse blew.
