Great, P0135 again...

On the way back from the Toronto meet, the CEL/VSA/! lights came on and scared the hell out of me. I was driving my car really hard that day, so I thought it might be the transmission. Can you imagine being in a different country, 4 hours away from the border, and the transmission breaking down? No AAA, and no TLC (at least I didn't have the Canadian number, and I highly doubt they will cover me in a foreign country). I would've been screwed.

I drove home, anyway, because I didn't have any other choices. Upon a restart, the VSA/! lights turned off, but the CEL remained on. I was praying that whatever was wrong, the car would hold it until I crossed the border.

I made it home fortunately, and the next day, the CEL turned off on its own as I was going to AutoZone to get it scanned. So I turned around. Today, it came on again as I was driving around. I drove straight to AutoZone and got it scanned. I was guessing either O2 sensor, EGR (I cleaned it last week, maybe something was wrong?) or the transmission -- in that order of likeliness.

Low and behold, it's P0135 AGAIN. Yeah, I blew another primary O2 sensor. This one lasted about 8,000 miles, if I remember right. Weird. Anyway, this is gonna cost me another 80 bucks or so to fix. Not a huge deal, but annoying. But I guess I should be happy that it wasn't anything serious.

Just felt like whining. :tomato:

hahaha good point. i wonder if it was just defective to begin with or if there is something else causing them to go bad (dont know what that would be)

I assume you are over warranty (on an 03??? wow).

Pure Adrenaline 04-12-2005 11:07 AM

No, I only have 38k miles on the car. Still under warranty, although most of it is invalid now.

O2 sensor is covered under the factory warranty. I had mine replaced for free; even with Comptech headers.

Meh, that's what I thought, too. But the two dealerships I talked to said "sorry, can't cover it because of the mods." :( I guess they just aren't as mod-friendly as your dealership.

That vehicle looks good! Nice to see, that the efforts we put in will pay off bercause I've just started my mods, and more to come. I found it stressfull.

There must be something on the 401 that cuases this. I just got off of the 401 and I had the same problem. I am going to get it checked in the next 10mins or so. Hopefully its nothing major and the dealership wont give me a hard time about it on monday if I need to take it into them.

I saw those lights turn on and I almost shit myself.

ndawood 07-24-2005 02:39 PM

I just got home from my friends shop. Turns out it was Cylinder 1 missfire. Im not sure what the exact code was but thats what he told me. We reset the code and now I just have to wait and see whether or not it reappears.

Haha, the cursed 401. :D

One misfire code isn't that big of a deal; but when it happens repeatedly, try changing spark plugs and/or wires.

Hopefully it won't happen again. :wish:

The spark plugs are only a few months old so I am thinking that if it does reappear it might be the coil pack that needs to be replaced...
