GPS Problems..how do you reset it?
Hey all. I got a '03 TLS w/ GPS.
It does "weird" things sometimes.
-While driving on the route, it will pause and attempt to ReCalc, even though you have not gone off course
-The GPS will tell you to keep turning left, left, and left for no apparent reason, even if you are ON course
Is there a way to reset this thing? Ala a reboot?
It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it bugs the heck out of me.
Thanks!
:shit:

My suggestion...
Take the negative pole of your battery...(it will eventually shut down the whole electronic circuit) and put it back on after say 10 min....remember to have all your password and try boot it up...

Burning Brakes
Is it totally at random, or does it do it on certain roads (can you reporduce it by driving down the same street while heading to the same destination), times of day (the nav will re-route you if it thinks you're in traffic, so keep your speed up), and did you do anything with the position correction buttons? Also, do you have the latest disc?
If it's totally random and none of the above seems to effect when it does it and pulling the battery doesn't help, then I'm not sure what else you can do other than take it to a dealer. If you're under 50K or have an extended warranty, you'll be covered.

It's 100% totally random.
The thing is it doesn't occur enough for me to bring it to the dealer. They wont' fix it if it can't be replicated. (pain in the butt).
Maybe i'll talk to them and see what they say.

From the service manual.
The limitations of the self inertial portion of the navigation system (yaw sensor & vehicle speed sensor) can cause some discripancies between the vehicle's actual position and the indicated vehicle osition (GPS vehicle position). However, if GPS signals cannot be received, you must tune the vehicle position manually.
Servicing:
Before disconnecting the battery, write down the frequencies for the radio's preset functions.
After servicing, park the vehicle where the GPS satellite signals will be unobstructed, and check the satellite mark on the display. When the battery is disconnected, the clock is reset to "0:00". The clock will reset to the correct time after the system receives the GPS satellite signals.
After reconnecting the battery, you havbe to wait to get the initial signal from the satellite. It will take about ten minutes.

Sounds like the gyro in the navi is failing. When it goes, the navi thinks the car is constantly turning when it really isn't, so you keep getting the directions to turn when you don't need to.
