Got a New quote on Tints...what do you think???
So there's a place located about 5-10 min away from me. They offer a lifetime warranty on the tints, and they use the Llumar Jet black line of tints. They are charging me 200, including taxes and installation. I'm going with 35% up front, anf 20% for the rest.
What do you guys think??? It's no titanium tint, but all I care about is a good quality tint, that won't fade, and won't turn purple overtime.

does anyone have a pic of 35% on the 4 windows, and 20% on the rear windshield??? See my reasoning behind 20% on the rears is so that the back seat can't be seen at night...and I'm sure most of you know why!!!

just go for 20% all around, you'll wish you did after you see your 35% next to your 20%. $200 is a bit high but if they offer a lifetime warranty and seem like a good shop go for it, its only $30 or $40 more than what I think of as the "max" for tint.

20% all around is illegal in ontario. I can only go 35 in the front, and there's no limit on the back windows.
yah well read my post on the dealer quote. they were asking 400 for it...screw them!!!

The conversion rate is 1 USD= 1.3072 CAD.
Therefore if he paid 160 USD for it, that means he paid 209 CAD. It's basically the same price with the conversion.
Anyways, can someone email me a pic of 2 things.
Someone who has 35% for their two front windows, and the remaining 2 windows (2 back, and 1 rear windshield) with 20%.
and also someone with 35% for all 4 windows, and 20% for the rear windshield.
thanks guyz.

hey guys, I was wondering...
if in the event of my dad absolutely hating the way the car looks with tints, can they be removed without f*cking up the back windows defrost lines???
I've heard a lot of people complaining that they have a lot of broken defrost lines as a result of tint removal???
any ideas?

Once you put tint on your rear window and then decide to remove it you will have to buy a new window because once you break one of those defrost lines the whole rear defrost wont work...
You can go 35 in the rear and then if you want it to be darker then will put an extra film a tint and make it 20

is it really black at night to the point where you can't see at night???

i dont have a clear picture on my comp right now...but 20..to me...is bassically like looking out the rearveiw mirror when its fully dimmed....if that helps...i think its pretty hard to see out of at night when im in a parking lot with little light...

why are do you insist on darker on the back...the same all around looks fine...all the windows will look equally as dark (which is what i would go for) except the fornt windows will looks lighter i nthe day time due to sunlight through the windsheild...i just think differnt tint percentage is ugly....

well see the problem is, in f*cking ontario the law states only 35% maximum on the front. If the law said 25%-30% then I would do the same all around, but I personally think 35% is too light for the back window. I like having the back window darker.
do you think that 35% for all 4 windows and 20% for the back window would look ok???
or you only like 35 all the way around?

Also, if a line gets damage all you have to do is go to almost any auto part or Radio Shack and get the solder pen(liquid solder) that is use to repair that and done.
Hey Jeff take a look at my gallery and you will see how mine looks. I know is not smoke but platinum.

I just got mine tinted two days ago. Used high performance metallized films with titanium, life warranty against fading, cracking, bubbling, ... 6% all around. Total cost including tax was 172. Now, I just hope I won't get caught by the cop.

cops arond me dont seem to mind..ive lines up with them at lights...and they dont do anyhting..i have 20% and any tint on the front windows are illegal..
anyway...i dont think 35 on the rear window will look bad..i cant speak from experience...since my 20% is dark...but i guess go with 20 if you worried its gonna be too light...with 20 i can tell you that it will be dark

The reason I went for 6% was , well, peer pressure, also the sample didn't look so dark when I looked at it in the show room. After it was done, man, it was almost pitch black. But my friends just told me to roll the front windows all the way down if I see any cop around. It's also kind of difficult to back up the car when I am in the dark alley. But my friends said I would get used to it. What friends are for! Always comfort me and get me advises...
By the way, is there any one know how to take out the shift knob? I just bought a burlwood shift knob, but not sure how to take out the old one. Do I just turn it really hard counter-clockwisely with my bare hands? I just want to make sure, certainly don't want to break anything. Thanks.

Hey Jeff,
I went with 20% sides & back ... you've seen my car and I think darker is better. However, you're up in GTA and cops will do anything to pull any 'racers' over, so you might get a hard time if there's some anal cop sees your tints.
However ... I think Steve (aka Tatewaki) said he's never got a problem with his tints. Don't know what he has but it's fairly dark. I've been up to GTA all the time and never got a problem.
One thing about 20% ... if you're in a really dark street (ie no street lights), you might wanna double-check with rolling windows down to see what's behind you ... you can't see a thing.
If you're really scared about police ... go with 35% all around. If you want looks (and cooler in the summer) ... 20% all around is better.
My $0.02 ...

PS I paid C$230 (stupid PST & GST) when I got mine done here in Windsor ...

Go 35 on the sides and 20 in the rear; you won't be disappointed. If you go 35 all around, the rear glass will actually appear lighter due to it being bigger than the side windows. Trust me.

35 all around looks OK, and if you plan on using the back seats at night, trust me, they can't see inside. IMO dark rears are for limos so you can't see who they're driving around. It will definitely emphasize on the car being a "4-door luxury family sedan". If the dealer puts it in (or their contractor), they are forced to fix any problem associated with it. They wash their hands of it if it's aftermarket.
My $0.02 Canadian (about $0.00000000324 US)
BTW Jeff, don't convert everything based on U.S prices. Most everything in Canadia costs twice as much. Add on top of that a 15% tax.

Besides the defroster, don't the TL have the radio antenna imprinted on the same area? I was wondering if the metallized tints improve/ decrease radio reception.
