Got My Stock Dyno Done Today

OK, well almost stock. i have an AEM V1, but that was on the car when i bought it so i didn't have the stock airbox to put on. i headed up to Visions Of Speed in Poughkeepsie. i don't know how many of you guys on here know where that is but right off of route 44 in the Poughkeepsie Plaza you can find it. a guy name Adam owns it. good guy.

anyways, so i bought megan headers and plan on putting them in tommorow but i was intent on getting a before and after on the dyno to see what they were really worth.

we used a Mustang Dyno, supposedly corrected for windspeed. 3 pulls and a 1/4 mile run. first pull in auto on D3, the other in tiptronic in 3rd gear. VSA off. the 1/4 mile run was in auto at 4th gear.

here are my stats, i'll scan the papers soon when i get my scanner working.

Pull Hp Tq
1 192.4 @ 6000RPM 187.5 @ 4750RPM
2 193.6 @ 6000 202.2 @ 2250
3 196.0 @ 6000 206.3 @ 2250

1/4 Mile Pull:
Distance Time Speed

330ft 6.219 61.6
660ft 9.436 77.3
1000ft 12.209 88.8
Reaction: 1.342
60ft 2.367 30.170
1/4 Mile 14.555 97.028

overall around what i expected. approximately a 24.7% loss to the wheels, but i am quite pleased on the 1/4 mile stats, especially since it was spinning alot of tire on the launch. hopefully i will get the headers on either tommorow or friday morning and get a dyno friday afternoon. i will let you guys know what i get.

if that quarter mile time is correct, that's pretty sweet man. headers should be a nice add on to the TL.

Looks like some fair numbers for a mustang dyno. They normally do read pretty low compared to the others. A dynojet would have said something slightly different. It should be interesting to see what kind of gains you get out of the headers.

the guy operating the dyno was pretty emphatic that the 1/4 mile was accurate. so if he's right then i'm psyched. for a stock vehicle that's awesome.

if i get 15hp out of the headers i'll be happy, but i am curious to see for myself what i get.

ndawood, the guy said the same thing, that his dyno reads low. he suggested that 205 may be a more accurate number, which i think is great. (about a 22% loss). another shop about the same distance away has a dynojet, but since i know this guy i prefer to go to him.

i will be sure to let you know what the differences are. i will also do another 1/4 mile with the headers to see if my trap speed changes, although 97mph is pretty damn good to me.

There's only one way to do a real 1/4 mile run - at a track!

I don't know how they could claim that their 1/4 mile #'s are accurate without wind resistance.

Good #'s by the way!

there are computer programs built into the dyno O/S to mathematically compensate for wind resistance by knowing what the coefficient of drag is for the specific car on the dyno.

but i agree, that doesn't mean it's entirely accurate. i think though that since his reaction time was over a second that you could easily argue that compensates. heh heh
