Got Into A Car Accident
Got Into A Car Accident
Got into a car accident last night ='( I don`t know if the driver was drunk or not, but the whole story is, I was on the far most right lane, she was in the middle (to the left of me), on streets Saticoy and Tampa (Northridge area). She was stopped at a red light, and I was still approaching the red light, then it turned green so I didn`t bother stopping and as we pass the intersection she merges into my lane and I braked but didn`t stopped in time, swerve to the right (into the curb) to try and avoid the accident but didn`t do much because I hit the curb and it stopped my car from going more far to the right; well the damage on my car was my left front-end (headlight, fender, wheel-well fell out, steering wheel would not budge to the left, middle is fine, grille is fine, some inside parts fell out, no leakage, not drive-able), the damage on her car was on her right rear-end (right rear door is ripped off (not the whole door, the metal), rear wind-shield cracked, right rear door`s window also gone, right rear tire flat, she hit the 7-11`s wall with her left frnot end, no damage, but damage to the wall, yes, her car is still drive-able), her husband came and changed the flat tire, and it was drive-able. I have to request towing service for my car. First time I`ve been in an accident. Don`t know what to do.....
Did you call the cops on the spot? If you did, and she got the ticket, then you're all good.
Call your insurance company, give them the accident/case number the officer should have given you, and select a body shop in your area. Make sure to request ALL OEM parts.
Good luck.

I didn`t call the cops; but the cops did come though. They didn`t do any reports, they gave us papers to fill out and swap with each other. So we swapped info, insurance, car info, driver`s license. Called my insurance company today, they`re going to send people to get an estimate on my car next Monday. My friend referred me to a lawyer. He also told me to take my car to his friend`s shop, but it is too far and my car isn`t drive-able. But the thing is that, at his friend`s shop, they`ll give me a much lower estimate and he said I will get extra money from it and that I can probably stick on the OEM kit. Any ideas/advices/tips? Or anything else that I should do.
You mean a higher estimate, but actual lower repair costs, so you could pocket the extra cash from the insurance company?
It's insurance fraud, but people do it all the time. It's your call.
