Gonna need brakes..not sure what to do

I just hit 40k and the front pads are about toast. I have two options:

1) buy a new set of rotors(Brembo blanks @ $50ea) and descent pads($75) and be good for another 30-40k miles. I'd do the work myself.

or

2) Take the car to the dealer and have them turn the rotors(warrantee work) and pay for a new set of OEM pads plus labor. If I do this I run the risk of rotor warpage in which case I will have to replace the rotors AND pads in who knows how many miles.

I'm leaning toward #1. Does anyone want to help me rationalize this?

Thanks,
Iggy

I would not have the rotors turned. They are too thin to begin with. See if you can convince the dealer to replace the rotors, that's what they did with mine.

If not, I say go with the Brembo blanks.

yeah...after the rotors are resurfaced they are a little thinner...if you drive hard i would go with option #1...btw if your vehicle is still under warranty there should be no extra labor to put on pads...but are you having a vibration problem?...if you dont therre really is no reason to resurface the rotors..i know alot of places do it anyways but if you use a good quality pad its no necessary
