Going for the dive

I haven't changed my mind and am still settled on a 2000 Silver TL, but am frantically looking for one with the right number of miles and right price. Below is a list of modification I plan to possibly carry out, all pending on how much cash I have available. Please tell me which modifications are a must and which I should do before others. Also, tell me if other brands / combinations are better. In addition, comment on the prices I listed, where I should purchase, what brand, and what I can expect for install labor). Thanks a bunch!

Definitely doing right when I get the car:
-'02 style lights ($336.70 - do I need the wiring harness?)
-audio system (already have existing system from old car, will probably just keep the Alpine 7894 headunit from it. How many speakers are in the TL? Where are they located and what size are they? What speakers should I install (brand / type)? I have two 10" MTX subs w/ AMP, should I keep or ditch completely?)
-spoiler ($500)
-2001 cup holder ($10)
-fog lights (PIAA? What type looks best in this car? Cost?)

Will work on these:
-Sport guages (where can I see what is available and purchase?)
-cleared headlights ($15)
-6000k upgrade HIDs ($250)
-tints (What is a good type and how much %? Usual cost? Is there any tint standard on the TL?)
-intake (what does the air by-pass valve do and how possible is it for water to get using a cold air intake? $200)
-strut bar (What is the difference between this and a sway bar? - $110)
-sway bar (same question as above - $150)
-body kit ($800)

Thanks!!

i think if u buy some non-oem rear tails u can get em alot cheaper, for stereo they havent had a kit avail for aftermarket decks, i heard they got one now but im not sure, you can still hookup subs/amp to the stock dead(i did) sounds great, spoiler u can get for 200.00 painted on ebay, i did 20% tint all around looks good and cost me 160.00CAD, seen the kits on ebay as well, pretty much look on ebay and in the for sale sections on this site and acura-cl.com, good luck.

Things you should definitely do:

AEM CAI: $200-250 (Don't worry about the water issue-NEVER happens, just a disclaimer
Comptech Axle-Back Exhaust: got mine for $450 on ebay but their more $$ new
Eibach or Comptech lowering springs: $250
18" Wheels: Whatever kind you want
OEM body kit: check on ebay...$390 -s&h (not painted)

Don't worry about the headlight upgrade-the TL has HIDs that look awesome by themselves

Good Luck!!

Will do list:

Audio system just needs tweeters and a bigger sub.. It will sound good...

All the other mods for the will do list are ok...

Will work on list:

You can get indiglo gauges or I think the type S guages fit (not sure)
Cleared headlights - I can do them for you....
6000k - Not needed we already have 4300k and they look good. The higher the K the less you see of the road...
Tints - 35% and lower
Intake - depends on what you want (stock sound - Comptech)(Medium sound - AEM)(Loud sound - Injen) Bypass valve doesnt allow water to reach your engine if you suck up water...
Strut bar - Doesn't make that much of a difference
Sways - Will make a huge improvement on handling
Body Kit - Makes the car look aggressive

Stuff that I'm including that I think you missed.
Springs - Springs with sways will improve your handling immensly.
Headers - Give you about 30 hp to the wheels and improve midrange power.

Hope that helps a bit

Wow thanks for that info. One of the things I am most worried about is finding a place to do the installs for some of this stuff. Last time I took one of my cars to Circuit City it took about 15 trips there to get everything how it should've been the first time. There was one other place that I trusted around where I live, but now they have apparently moved or went out of business. I wish I had the abilities to install all of the mods...
