I just ordered this for my '99 TL:

unfortunately, after ordering it, i realized that it's a "6-color glow" not a "reverse glow," which made me so annoyed.

I LOVE reverse glow, like this:


and totally dislike when the whole thing lights up but not the numbers, like this:


Ideally, I want something where just the numbers and markers light up but the whole background doesn't... kinda like this:


Does anyone have this same set? How do you like them?

I had been looking for reverse glow gauges for so long that I got so excited when I found it (especially that it deceived me and looked like the style i love), and bought them right away, then I got so annoyed and upset when I realized that it's the style that I don't like

The group buy from years ago was the best. Some of you should get together and see if they will make more, like one of those companies that make and sell them now.
The group buy ones were infinitely adjustable. The numbers would lightup and dim out, the background would light up and dim and go from blue to green.

wait a second...so those gauges come with the backing panel to power them... and the leds? for 32 dollars? thats too good to be true. what else will i need to get those fully working?

it's not LED's, it's something called EL (electro-luminescence i think), and that comes with everything you need. the problem is that the one I ordered comes with the numbers and markings black, and the background lights green or blue. I want one like this:

Kris, any idea who the manufacturer was or vender? Those are nice. Nothing as disappointing as turning on lights in day and when it comes to just the right light, your numbers are no longer black due to backlight, and the ambient light no longer provides illumination to the gauge. Cant see crap at that point.

phee, yes, these are all you need. but these are only the backing of the gauges, don't include anything related to the needles or anything. they don't use any bulbs, they just light up by themselves. they should have all the connections required and everything.

Does anyone know if it is still possible to get the gauges from the group buy? or if it is possible to purchase a set of reverse glow gauges anywhere? BTW I have a Canadian TL

The group buy are no longer available. Maybe someone could get a place to make them like the group buy ones were. I dont remember who got the last one started. That was many years ago and i wasnt part of the original group buy. I bought them from another member.

The Blue was really good on the ones i had. Also some one needs to have them made for the type-s. The group buy ones were made before there was one, and none were made for the type s
