Gas mileage I experienced this weekend
I finally got to drive a long way on the highway. I did about 5km city and the rest highway. For the most part I left the car on cruise control set at about 108 km/h revving at around 1850 RPM. I had the a/c on about 50% of the time, and got 270 km/h on just a little less then 1/2 a tank. My gas needle currently sits somewhere around 1.5-2 notches above the halfway point.
Is this any good???
I'm assuming I could probably go about 600km on a full tank of gas on the highway. do the math, that's around 9 litres/100km, where the car is rated for about 7L/100 km. Keep in mind that the temperate was generally 0 degrees celcius, which is about 32 degrees farenheit. I blame the temperature on the reason for not getting better gas mileage...
anyhow, does this gas mileage seem reasonable?

This is seriously NOT the way to measure gas mileage..it will give you a vague sense of what your mileage kind of is, but it's not accurate. What you need to do is: fill it up and divide the distance by the amount it took to fill it back up (mpg or kmpl for you wacky canadians)
As you've noticed the needle sticks at the beyond full mark for a while sometimes, it's not beyond full. It also appears, to me, to drop faster on the bottom side of the gauge (ie top half takes x amount to fall and bottom half takes y amount, and x > y). Fortunately even after it hits E you have the reserve amount. What I'm saying is the gauge is not accurate..
