gas mileage

I'm not exactly an expert with cars so I could appreciate some help.
I drive an '02 TL Type-S, and I need to know if the amount of gas the car eats is normal.
On average I get around 5.5km per litre or 18L/100km, which is around 300-330km on a full tank. Here's some things to consider:
- My driving style is rather hard/aggressive. However, I don't exactly street race either so I don't want to stress this fact.
- It's all city driving.
- It's winter, so I warm up the engine a bit in the mornings.

Thank you.

P.s. is it bad that I fill up on 87 gas? (the odometer is 224,000km if it matters)

how can you afford to drive around like that with gas prices through the roof?

and yes 87 gas is bad for the engine. it was designed for 91 and above, one of the main reasons being the high compression ratio.

Mine is 3.2 TL (non S) and I got 29 mpg on the highway at 70-75 mph. In the city it is not so good with 19-20 mpg.

You should switch to 91 and reset your ECU. Especially since your a Type-S.

91 or 94 if thats what they sell in your area as premium
run a can of seafoam (from canadian tire) thru half a tank of gas to clear out crud
from 87
replace spark plugs if near 100kms on them,, ngk iridium ~8-10 bucks each
ck air filter
ck tire pressure

you are getting lousy mileage- stay out of the throttle in town- getting the car moving takes the most effort--slow early for red lights...

try letting it shift below 3500 by using less throttle- 2000-2500 is best fuel economy shift in town
stay below 4700 to keep out of vtec,, where it drinks gas like a V8 engine!!!
but is fun part of the rpm to play

unless its below 0 F in the morning- just let it warm up a minute- 2 minutes max and get moving
the warmup program/full rich cycle uses more fuel---
and moving gets the engine warmed up to operating temp and on the `lean fuel mode` faster than sitting in the driveway
you may notice 1st and 2nd gear hold a little longer and slightly higher rpm shift when dead cold-
another part of the warm up program!
