Just wanted to share I received a recall notice from acura yesterday here are the details:

Safety Recall: V6 Engine Water Pump

Honda Motor Co. Ltd has determined that a defect relating to motor vehicile safety exsists in the water pump in certain 2003 3.2TLs, 2003 3.2CLs and 2002 MDXs. The timing belt tensioner pulley is misaligned and may cause the timing belt to contact a bolt on the cylinder head. Eventually, the belt could be damaged and fail. If the timing belt breaks, the engine will stall, which increases the risk of a crash.

I heard that it was only for the cars in a certain range of VIN numbers. It that true?

I have more details after talking to the mech apparently it only on a select batch of timing belt tentioners they are stamped with a #9 but to see this they have to take the timing cover off and examine the tentioner.

My friend just took his 03 CL-S in to have it inspected and I haven't received a notice yet, but according to the service advisor he was saying that all 03 CL-S and TL-S with 02 MDXs are supposed to receive a recall notice. So expect a notice but I believe the faulty water pump and tensioner are mainly found in a range of VINs

This has already been posted on the board a couple of times... just check out the NHTSA website... they have the details on there.

And yes....only certain VIN numbers are affected....

you should be getting a notice in the mail about it if your car is affected
