Front passenger side suspension lowered after loud bang

Hello I am very new here, anyway, I was driving my car going about 10mph, and i heard a loud bang by the front passenger side wheel well. I continued to drive it about a block to my parking lot and while driving it felt very unsafe. I don't believe it was shaking while i was driving or anything. But once i got to my lot, I looked at the wheel and noticed the suspension was lower. Anyone have any idea what this is?

blown shock..?

Welcome to the forum!

The few possibilities that immediately come to mind are a broken spring, spring perch on the strut, strut mount, or a broken upper or lower ball joint.

With something this obvious, removing the wheel should quickly reveal the problem.

or compliance bushing or ball joint?

I think it would be best if you got under the car and looked. :co:

I would think that a blown ball joint would be pretty catastrophic.

Anyway let us know what you find!

Im thinking cracked spring

Yeah no way that was a blown ball joint without a sudden "WTF My wheel doesn't seem to be as upright like it should".

I also think you suffered a spring failure.

Or broken fork bolt. Turn the steering all the way to the right and take picture inside the wheel well then post here.

Or potentially strut tower?
See if you can see anything under the hood on that side?

(On second thought, that would likely show damage in the hood itself, still worth a look)
