Fried connector from fog lamp?

I just changed my fog lights for the 3rd time a couple of days ago (because one got burned) and I noticed that the connector that connects the halogen lamp to the wires was a little bit black/brown, as if burned a little. Is this because my new fog lights are stronger than the regular 55W (mines are 100W). My for lights are Nokya Artic White (for $30) that claim to have a 7000k lighting on the Kelvin scale... COMMENTS?

I would say you are definitely cooking the wiring harness. The stock bulbs are 51W. I've got 60W Silverstars in mine and they're fine. But that's about the upper limit for wattage on the stock wiring harness. Some people on here have expressed concern about melting the wires with 80W bulbs. 100W are defintely too much for the stock wiring harness. You melt enough wires and/or relays and your fogs may not work at all. Or worse, you can catch the car on fire.

Either change the bulbs to something 60W or less, or upgrade the wiring.

Well I think that the halogen lamp itself only consumes 50W but it displays a light as strong as a 100W. I have done this conversion in ALL of my cars and it never seems to have been a problem...

100watt? OUCH! I am surprised the fu)cking wires/wiring harness has not melted... that is FAR too much... I suggest you do not go over 60...

Who has changed their fog lamps to hyper white lights? All hyper whites halogen lamps are far more than 60W... they are usually 80W or 100W. HOW CAN I UPGRADE THE WIRING SO IT SUPPORTS 100W??? COULD THAT BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP??? AT A SHOP??? BYMYSELF???

But if your halogen lamp is always between 51W to 60W, there will be no difference... the light will always be white/yellowish... or is there ANY hyper white halogen lamp within that wattage range?

Wattage is not the main determinent of color (it has very little to do with it). The Kelvin scale is what determines color output. A stock halogen 9006 51W fog light bulb is around 3200K. For comparison, a Sylvania Silverstar 9006 60W is around 4000K. Our stock HIDs are around 4300K (and only 35W) and daylight is around 5400K. The closer you get to the mid 4000K range, the closer the bulbs will match the appearance of the stock HIDs.

Same thing happend to my 99 Accord. Blackish Brown on the connector and the bulbs keep burning out every 2 weeks, than ever 2 days. At this point, u gotta change the wires, or else by putting in lower wattage bulbs now, instead of buring the bulbs in 2 days it will be maybe 3 weeks. Once the wires are fried, thats it. 100 Watt is just too much! Change the wires and then put the normal wattage bulbs in.

You can pick up an upgraded wire harness from Pep Boys for 3.99ea + tax. This will enable you to run the 100w bulbs. I've never tried them before, but that's what you need.

Personally, I've been using PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in my fogs and have no complaints.
