FRAM® SureDRAIN™

From Fram's website under Accessories:

FRAM® SureDRAIN™ Fast Access Oil Change System
Introducing…the new, easier way to change your oil. Now you can drain your oil with no tools, no mess and no hot oil on your hands with the revolutionary new SureDRAIN Fast Access Oil Change System brought to you by the trusted name in filters….FRAM.

Now you can have instant access to your oil with just a turn of the wrist!
Proprietary SureDRAIN Valve - this unique, heavy duty Actuator Valve is precision engineered to permanently replace your existing oil drain plug and allow instant oil access and draining.

Twist on Drain Hose - Designed for fast, easy, twist on operation, the heavy duty FRAM drain hose starts the flow of oil directly into your receptacle with the turn of your wrist.

Added Protection Dust Cover - To keep the SureDRAIN valve free from road dirt and safe from undercarriage debris, the ultra-rugged SureDRAIN dust cover locks firmly into place until the next oil change. Like all SureDRAIN parts, this dust cover has been tested against leaks, corrosion, vibration and road damage.
A guy I work with has been using them for a while and likes it. I think it looks like it would be nice to have if you change you own oil. Anybody else have any experience with this?

i dislike it, it keeps too much of the old oil in the drainpan.

i like to wait until all the dirty oil has drained out before i replace the drainplug, makes me feel like i'm keeping the oil cleaner.

Be patient....and all the oil will drain out. I use these on my other cars and all the oil is drained....I measured it! It is slow due to the small orfice, but it will all drain. Fram does not show an application for the SureDRAIN for Acura TLs 2002 and up. Does anyone know the thread size and pitch of the oil drain plug? The SureDRAIN package does list the thread size on its packaging, so if we knew the thread specs we could match up the correct drain plug for our cars ????

I guess it's pretty smart and easy, I don't really care much about it cause I bring my car to my buddy's place to change my own oil on a lift, but it does make it easier just buy hooking up that hose.

OK...after a little experimentation here is what you need to know. Fram doesn't show an application for the Acura TL 2002 in their catalog. Our drain plug has 14mm X 1.5 threads and the Fram SureDRAIN part number is SD-2. They are available @ Walmart for $12.87. All you need to do is tighten it down with a 7/8" socket. No more crush washers and dropped drain plugs into the oil drain pan. Life is easier for the real enthusiasts who change their own oil....
