Foglight help

I have a 2003 acura tl. I took off bumper to install a new hids. Now I'm on the foglights that I plan on using lexan. I have the foglight housing off and see that the trim around the front housing is held on by clips. Can I just break the glass with a hammer and then pull up on the clips to remove the trim? Does the shield that is around the bulb need to be replaced if it's rusty? My plan is to remove the trim and glass then use aircraft paint remover, then going to sand a little and prime and paint it gray to match color of car. Is there anything I'm missing or any help would be appricated.

The trim can be removed with or without the glass so is your preference..
If you do break the glass the trim will eventually fall off because its pressing against the glass.

Hey skirmich those came out awesome! Did you paint the chrome thats in the foglight or was yours still in good condition? Also is the trim painted? How can I prep the inside of the foglight housing for paint? Should I use the aircraft pair removal and then some sandpaper?

My chrome was in good condition and I didn't prep it at all, I used Autozone Black Matte Paint for plastics and came out really good. I have years with it now and the painting inside the housing is still good, The trim did fade though is back to chrome
