Fog Lamp '03 TL-s

Looks like my r/s fog lamp took a stone. Has a nice 1 1/2" hole. Visited the local Acura store yesterday. $350 for the lamp assembly and .5 for installation. With our 15% tax in Ontario, this is a $450 - $475 job.

Sorry, this is a serious rip-off, plain and simple.

My brother cracked a fog on his '03 GTP last week and it was $226 installed. I know the Acura is not a Pontiac, but double the price???

Does anyone know of a suitable aftermarket replacement? And, if I do replace this thing, is there some sort of lens re-inforcement to prevent happening again?

Thanks, and all the best in '04. Hoping our boys can get the job done in Helsinki tomorrow!!

Maybe that's why they're not plexi, or some other durable material. At almost $500 a pop, that is some great corp revenue.

Whatever route you decide to take, please don't go to the dealer to fix it. Personally, I went ahead and shattered both sides so I could replace it with Lexan Plexiglass. For the same thickness, it is 250x more durable than regular glass. At this rate, I think it's well worth it replacing it yourself, if you are guaranteed you will never have to replace it again.

hey -

I just replaced my lense two days ago!

1. buy lexon or lucelite plexiglass. (sold at home depot or lowes)
2. buy a special cutter to cut the glass.
3. unbolt the foglight. (1 bolt that can be reached underneath)
4. removie assembly. using a flat head screwdriver snap off the silver metal lining.
5. using a blowdryer you can haet the glue that is holding the glass and then peel off all the remaining peices.
6. use a small flathead screwdriver and scrape away all the glue.
7. take that silver lining place it on the lexon glass (it should have two brown sheets on it one on both sides) and trace with a pencile on the inside side of the frame and the outside side of the frame.
8. using the cutter start cutting in the middle of those two lines ... (you'll have to cut it back and forth a few times)
9. snap out the cut glass.
10. using the glue put the glue on the assmebly and place the lexon on the assembly.
11. place some glue on the edges to make a tight seal.
12. replace the metal frame. (should snap back on)
13. install a bulb
14. connect to the wiring harness
15. put it back into the frontlip/bumper
16. screw it on.
17. test the light

total cost = $15
estimated time needed = 1 and 1/2 hours
skill level = moderate nothing too technicall involved just patience and delicacy.

ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE TL MEMBERS THAT HELPED ME...I'm just summarizing what i did!
THANKS TO THE TL MEMBERS FOR HELPING ME WITH MY INSTALL.

GOOD LUCK!
